So the Raider is missing it's rear wiper arm, and apparently everyone in this country thinks they are made of solid gold. But this being a Japanese truck, and knowing the Japanese like to be pretty consistent, I figure there must be another vehicle out there that has one that would work for me. The base is similar to regular wipers but smaller - I suspect this might also be the case on some other older SUVs but haven't had a chance to get to the pick and pull. So, if you have an SUV sitting around and you have a second and wouldn't mind doing a quick measurement, here's what I have:
Also, not concerned with the length or angle of the arm itself, just the base specifically.
Looks like the nub is tapered - it's 5/16" at the inner (wider) end
and 1/4" at the outer end.
Anyhow, thanks in advance if anyone can find anything that would work!

Find yourself a reasonable parts counter guy - there should be a hilarious amount of model to model crossover.

This is the burbs.....unfortunately all I have around here is the lame chain stores with counter guys who can hardly figure out what spark plug fits.........
The main problem with "on the books" crossover is that most of the direct crossovers would presumably also be 1980s trucks, which also won't be in the pick and pulls around here. I would check the one on my own Sequoia, but it is seized on there and I don't want to risk breaking the assembly just to check it lol.....
Looks very much like the 2000-2005 Subaru Forester rear wiper base. I no longer own a Subie to be able to compare measurement, but...
Good luck...

Thanks, I know a lot of subie guys from the rally/rallycross scene so that's a good thought. I didn't even consider Fozzies as a possibility :)
That also matches the front of my 84 Rabbit and 90 Corrado wiper assembly. There are probably only as many sizes as spark plugs. I bet that is a default size for many applications.

these guys show one for $25
I'm going to a yard tomorrow - they have 1 Raider there. Wiper arms are $5.00. Let me know

Ask them. They might have one for you.
just to clarify - I know I can GET the arm. Hell, I can buy them brand new from Hyundai in Korea (the galloper). And I can pay $25-30 for them on ebay used. This was more an exercise in "if they are the same as Toyota trucks, that makes things a lot cheaper and easier" type of thing. This being GRM, I'm not paying $25 for a wiper arm. People on here pay that for entire engines :D
Good tip on the old VWs. The Raider's front wipers are much beefier, but I guess some smaller cars may have smaller front wiper mounts.

yeah, thanks - grab it if it has one - though it has to be the rear (fronts are a different size). IIRC it's a 10mm nut to take it off.
Damn you people who live places where the yards actually have old stuff. The two giant pick and pulls around here rarely have things older than the late 90s at this point.

Will do. I'm only semi-damned - I live about 50 miles for the closest yard.
I just replaced the rear wiper arm on a second-gen CRV and I don't think it would be a match.

Wouldn't necessarily have to be a Forester... other Subie wagons (Legacy, Outback, Impreza) should be the same...

Let me go measure the wiper arms from my 1965 datsun roadster challenge build. That seems about right on size lol.
The wiper was missing too
P.S. I'll be going back Saturday
ah, well thanks for checking!
if you go back and it's still there, take a look and see if it has either of the front skidplates (it's a 2-piece skidplate) still in place and grab them if they're cheap. I'll arrange a way to get them from you and send you paypal, if they have them
I may just bite the bullet and do the 40-mile trek to the "local" pick and pull myself and see what I can find, just for something to do, since it's better than telework.

yep, I have some people in my rally friends group supposedly checking, since they all seem to have 5 subarus sitting around lol.

Skid plates are $25 + $3 core each. I don't know if a 2-piece would be considered 1 or 2. Let me know if that works for you

Not sure if with shipping added across country that would be a very good idea now that I think of it. For some reason I initially thought you were in North Carolina lol. Actually don't worry about it but thanks!
