The new title, appropriately named "Shift", moves NFS from an arcade style game into the Sim world. It's being developed with the team from SimBin, the group that brought you GTR, GTR2, WTCC and Race. They've gone after an interesting spin on Sim-Racing... the driver experience. Thoughts?

HAHA! Welcome to the Dark Side, NFS! I've got GTR2 & Race07. I have to turn the graphics waaaay down to get it to run on my Wal-Mart Special (complete with spit Vista! spit), but they are wonderful. I can even use my DFP on it after downloading a little translation software from Logitech. I was going to wait until GT5 came out to buy a PS3, but now I might have to take the plunge anyway.

Besides, my daughter's screaming to play Assassin's Creed (which my PC won't even load.

Screenshots look gorgeous. As it sits I'd play that on the Xbox....

Holy crap that looks amazing. Hopefully it doesn't get real dumbed down.

I'd play it anyways... even as arcadey as they've been, i've enjoyed most of the games.

I really liked the somewhat rudimentary tuning aspect of Underground 2. It was hilarious getting your gear ratios just right in your AE86 to pull the guy you were racing on online like he was standing still on any straightway, let alone curves.

Looks great. Up until Carbon, I enjoyed the games as arcadey escapist distractions. This newest release sounds really sweet.

There's supposed to be a race sim coming out soon with an interesting rewind feature. The idea being that race sims are notoriously unforgiving, and wanting an alternative to invincible arcade cars. So after rather than having the lead for 10 laps, and having to start over because you blew one turn, or got bumped by a moronic AI, you can just back up a few seconds and retry that turn. It would also be nice for learning new tracks in the game. That feature might suck, or it might be great.

I have Race 07 WTCC and it's really good. I can't see the link right now but I'm looking forward to it. I liked u2 and most wanted also.

I've had a mixed experience with the NFS series. I love Hot Pursuit 2- nothing better than busting your friend's McLaren F1 in a Crown Vic- and Most Wanted 2 and its kickass soundtrack. The original Underground was "meh." When I bought my PS3, it came with NFS Pro Street. That game sucked something fierce- the cars' handling was awful and it had that annoying announcer from Formula D yammering throughout the game. I traded it in towards another game about a day after I got it.

That being said, I'm looking forward to this one. I've been playing the GTR2 demo for a while and it's awesome. The driver's experience angle sounds interesting, too.

Race Pro on the xbox makes me want to kick SimBin in the testies. This is like the 9th title they've released that is the same god damn game as GTR with a few differences. Just it's not on the Xbox360.

I bet you the end product has cars from WTCC 08, some random street cars, formula BMWs, Locust, etc.

I took race pro back, 10 minutes after I bought it.

I love and still play Pro Street so this should make me happy. GTR Evolution on the PC is fun too though.

Holy negative comments, Batman!

I only glanced over the first ten or twenty, but every single one was flipping out about "OMG, this is gonna SUCK, why are you making a sim game?!? I'm gonna go play Burnout, instead!"

Yeah, the arcade players I know aboslutely hate it when they're confronted by the fact that driving at speed is difficult.

Back when there was only a couple of games that even came close to a sim, I wouldn't even try a game until I heard five people say it was "too hard". I think IndyCar Racing 2 (for the PC) was the first thing I'd touched since playing the arcade "Pole Position" as a teenager.
