j. A non-OEM hardtop of a type substantially similar to the shape, design, construction, and weight of the OEM hardtop may be used if the vehicle is equipped with a roll bar built to current SCCA Hill Climb specifications or a roll cage built to current SCCA Improved Touring specifications or better.
Which bars would count for that? Hard dog M1/M2 hardtop?
Also what hardtops count?
In reply to MrChaos :
You can't bung some muffler tubing in there and hang some coroplast over it and call it a "hardtop", is the gist of the rule. If it is a non OEM hardtop then it has no expectation of safety, thus the requirement for a roll bar that does have an expectation of safety.
If you do this, PLEASE bring evidence of certification for the cage.
Does mazda still do the NA/NB hardtop through the dealerships? like they were doing a year ago or so?
In reply to MrChaos :
That, I don't know. I assume you mean the $600 racing hardtops?
In reply to Knurled. :
no part number NCY1-R1-81XB-98
its new production NA/NB hard top unpainted with headliner and defrost, including side latches, precut trim panels, Frankenstein bolts and instructions.

Oh, cool! That would be an OEM hardtop. The racing hardtops had no headliner or defrost.
