Yes, if it's a true ITB car, it's a 4 banger. that body work could be had on a 86-87 SE with a 4 cylinder and is prbably how he's able to use it on an '84. There were two options for final drives, 4.11 being one of them. It won't be fast, it will be cramped trying to drive it with that style cage. i got my road race license in one. Couldn't use my left arm hardly at all to steer....

No way will this be available in less than 24 hours......looking at his craigslist add and other pictures, either its a misprint or someone will snatch it up. I'll behave, but damn I want it. Wonder why the ad has been up for a while (just refreshed today but its been online since Jan 10)
Definitely not my old car. The dash on mine was tan, and the side bars went out to the door as well.

Just to clarify, that's an Iron Duke in the pictures above, originally a 2.5 and always a turd (IMO). Aside from already having a so-so cage in it, there's not much appeal. If I were racing it, I'd want a different engine (3400), different rear suspension ('88 Fiero), different driver side door bars, relocated battery, '87-88 larger fuel tank, larger vented front rotors, and ideally a 5 speed with closer gear ratios but the trans part is probably me just being particular.

Other than that, it would be a great car?
In all seriousness, thanks for the feedback.

Well, if you started with an '88 or '87 V6, you'd really only need some minor changes at first, then you have an easy upgrade path if/when stuff fails. An '84 4 cylinder 4 speed is just a really bad place to start from.

Makes me wonder where he's running it? If he has enough money to develop the motor, there are parts out there that can make it a reliable, strong motor at the right track. My tracks were Daytona and Sebring, and I had no money. But last I heard, my motor that I put together was still running strong some 14 years after I built it. Just have to make sure it always has enough oil.
I had a 3qt Accusump, a remote oil filter with a Ford V8 oil filter, and an oil cooler on mine. Probably eight quarts of oil in the system. They came from the factory with 3.5 qts in '84, which was the main reason for the oil fires. Too many cars would get low on oil, and being mid-engined with the exhaust runnin near the oil pan, the oil would cook and fail. A rod would go through the block, dumping some oil onto the exhaust, and result in a fire.
My ITB car would out-corner anything with the suspension I had on it. Don't think you have to do the '88 swap to get it to handle.
