We are running a new configuration at my local track.
The layout has never Bern done before.
So my question is if I use the existing track layout that has the same start finish line will the app still record the laps?
Note I don't care about the telemetry I just need the lap times.
I haven't tried but I think it would from my experience with other data logging/analysis apps - generally they only care that you cross the start/finish line to record lap times. I see TrackAddict has an option to add a custom track as well.
Are the intermediate sector points from the original track still part of the revised layout? Most track will have additional check points mapped out to define multiple sectors making up the complete lap. If your new layout doesn't take you through all the sector checkpoints then you may get an odd result.
Creating a new track is relatively easy with TrackAddict. I've had to do it a few times. Since it uses Google maps satellite view you can scroll around and see the track while manually setting your start/finish point and sector points. One other point to note: if the track has lanes that are close to one another you can adjust the sensing area smaller to avoid false triggers when passing by a checkpoint on another nearby lane.
