Well for 21 years have been dreaming of this or a G waggen.
But have been good reasonable person owning land cruisers
yesterday decided, life is too short. Pulled the trigger on a new to me toy
Inboard brakes
portal axles
awaiting transport.
1 owner, grandpa, all records.
5.7 petrol.
first order of business when it comes back to its original home in CA, new proper wheels and tires + remove spare from roof.
ironically cheaper than my 2021 DD tacoma .
Maybe will tow the Elise to the track
You could probably transport the Elise on the roof rack. That'll look proper on some tough wheels.
Very cool! I never knew these came with gassers. Is it a swapped engine? I'm guessing it's a 350 or LS1 since you're saying 5.7L?
In reply to WillG80 :
Thanks. Yes some came from factory with 350 5.7L
my two requirements were:
- hard top wagon
- Petrol motor
- normal colour
- stock
- two owners or less
- all records
the combo above has been hard to find
In reply to fatallightning :
Thanks!
yes proper wheel shopping in progress
In reply to mr2s2000elise :
Either you found one hell of a deal, or toyotas are a LOT more expensive than I thought.
I was just looking at a 99 non wagon the other day asking $120k, but that was also in Florida
I drove the military version 60,000 miles in 3 years. Loud and slow but can go anywhere.
The inboard brakes feel weird since when you come to a stop, it rocks back and forth through two CV axles and the portal hub.
And they're Wiiiiide. Get used to that as well, the far side is really far away.
I think I would also get the diamond plate on the front powder coated black or dark gray. Take some shiny away and I dont know why, but I (personally) just hate raw diamond plate... screams cheap carnival ride to me.
Looks sweet. I agree with needing more appropriate wheels.
Wonder what the tow capacity is on those ..
oooooh, also build the ramps to hook onto the brush guard and load from the front so you have less cribbing to carry around.
oooooh oooooh, I'd bet with some pulleys you could also use the bumper-mounted winch to pull the Elise right up.

I love your problem-solving skills.

The one I 6.0 swapped was a factory 5.7 truck. Only available in '95, IIRC
I've ridden in Hummers all over and nothing will put bruises on your butt faster, seat feels like a 2X6 wrapped in canvas. (GI versions only)
However .....

Trail Worthy Fab has boat loads of proper wheels.
In reply to mr2s2000elise :
If you want those typelook for your local military surplus tire place. I can buy military wheels for $25 each with the run flat insert.

Broschure says 9000 lbs.

I live in very narrow streets
so it will be a challenge
no problem at the farm of course
90% of the time I will park it in warehouse
but let's see how those brakes feel !

Not clear on the broschure. I tow my MR2 or Elise or few motorcycles or Canam sand toy.
