Impreza-based Subaru Crosstrek coming soon to fill the void left by the AMC Eagle 4x4. Not an Outback apparently, its a bit taller/tougher.

My guess is it wont be long before the entire Subaru lineup is SUV's.

I dig it!

Fingers crossed that the rumors are true and they bring their diesel to the states, with the 6 speed of course.

I've had lingering thoughts of the CX-5 diesel in the back of my mind, but it's CVT ruins it for me. This Subie though, it may be just the ticket.

Another car based SUV. What is to like about?

A lifted Subaru that's capable off road?

Subaru's product mix has changed very little since the mid 70s. ALL cars are bigger.

It looks exactly like an impreza, but lifted.

Last I checked the Impreza was not an SUV.

And station wagons were cool.

And lifting cars was cool.

Did I miss something?

It's a station wagon on stilts. Yaaawwwwn. So it the Toyota Venza, Caddy SRX, Volvo CrossCountry, on and on.... Not that this would be a "bad" car, but nothing earth shattering.

Yeah, when I saw that first pic I thought it was the Murano.

I really like it and it being a Subaru is just an added bonus.

As owners of a 2012 6speed outback I don't understand the hate. It weighs the same as the previous model but is so much bigger inside. Lets not kid ourselves and act like the previous model was small they were solidly midsized cars. The new one is taller a bit wider and a bit longer but again weighs nearly the same. The new interior however is cavernous compared to the old legacy wagon. I really like it. It's quite comfotable easy to park and gets better mpg than the minivan it replaced (24 average). Also if you must call it an SUV its the only one available with a manual trans. Really though it has more room than a CRv or a RAV in an overall similar footprint.
I suspect this imprezza base thing to be similar to the outback but smaller. I like it. I wonder how different from the forester it will be though.

This is actually exactly what I want. Something with enough ground clearance to get around up in Northern Michigan's treacherous two-tracks, great all wheel drive, enough room for two adults, a small child, a dog and all their stuff, without getting into a true SUV-sized vehicle with the inherent weight, driving, and efficiency penalties.

Seriously, look around. If you want something that gets good MPG right now but also has enough room for 4 and ground clearance above 8 inches, the ONLY option is a Forester. I have been holding off based on the size of the Forester, as it is just too big.

Now, what is MSRP?
