FYI, tweaked your title to combine it w/ Boxhead's.
I'll maybe have more substantial comments later.
That episode was exactly what I expected it to be. The next logical step. My only complaint would be the green passivate.
Anyone have experience with that Toyota rear suspension? The monoball bushings look exactly like the ones BMW E36's use in the rear. I'm curious about their dimensions. Part number 42210-14010. Just hoping they are a bit smaller than the bmw pieces
Interested in that DIY electroplating kit...although that green is ugly AF. I want that shiny zinc finish on some hardware.
this looks like something that can be cobbled together very easily. The gloves, goggles, funnel, etc are all standard garage items. The electrolyte juice could be had from Gatorade or pedialyte. The Sadomasochist electrode device is just wires and a battery. Then you need what ever the heck "metal polish" is.
In reply to RossD :
It's like a rod end that presses into a bore, but that's not important right now.
..
Finally saw the episode. One nitpick: When you use poly bushes, you do not need to torque up the bolts at ride height. The sleeves can rotate freely inside the poly, they are not like rubber bushes that are bonded to the rubber, leaving all range of motion limited by rubber flex and twist.
I'm also only slightly disappointed that they didn't make any "Andy did it" kind of jokes.

I had the same thought. I don't even mind the color all that much; I just can't imagine setting yourself up to have to replace dropped and lost nuts/bolts with stuff that's standard silver or gold, or have to blast, re-plate, re-color...

Yep! I think Hand Tool Rescue did a home electroplating rig for Nickel; aside from your containers, destenalized water and electrode you need strips of nickel and time.
Excellent video as always. Considering how meticulous they've been on everything else, I was a little surprised they didn't take the time to re-weld and smooth out the lumpy factory welds on the crossmember.
Holy balls. So much time. I wanted to curl up and cry when they were masking the already finished part to put some etch primer on the engineered surfaces...
I really like the green.

Indeed they are smaller!
Interesting, that looks just like a G35/350Z rear shock mount bushing! Same dimensions except the Nissan one is for M12 bolt instead of M14

The green reminds me of zinc chromate primer that's really common in aerospace applications.
I'm indifferent to what color they chose, but personally I like seeing CAD plated hardware because it stands out better. I really liked the change of pace from the body work.
I thought the green was a nice nod to the green paint BMC used on their engines. I call it MOWOG green, but not sure what the actual name is.
If it were me, I'd gone with cad plated hardware though.
In reply to T.J. :
Real cadmium plate is a no-go everywhere now for environmental reasons now. You can have zinc, or...Zinc if you don't want to pay for nickel.
Reminds me of the Youtube vid where they take some tool or household device that looks wrecked and restore it to brand new.
I love the before and after pics
That green plating is similar to Tractor Supply's grade 5 SAE fasteners, and I've got bin fulls of them in the garage. While I probably wouldn't have picked it myself, I guess I'm used to it and don't mind it so much.
