Company car lease. For 3 years.
A Golf R would have been the ticket. But they aren't available right now, and probably won't be until next year. That leaves the MINIs: Countryman and Paceman. The Paceman is weird looking, and the Countryman is borderline too SUV-like. And they both feel a bit cheap inside.
But what else it out there? Help!
That certainly would have been different. Sadly, only available in CVT with AWD.
Was it the Nissan Juke Nismo RS then? I could have swore I saw one with a manual and AWD.
Maybe, but not in Canada.

Are you excluding Subaru?
If used is an option, I think the Saab 9-5 wagon or a Subaru might be the only game with those requirements. Otherwise Subaru it is.

Company wagon?
my new car plan requires a 6-year old or newer car with 4 doors....this might fit the bill? And I can deliver parts to customers and get my mileage? Sweet!
Base Impreza wagon? That Cross thingie? No WRX available with a hatch in Canada!
It really seems like the options are dwindling year by year. You used to be able to get an A4 Quattro Avant 6 speed manual. No more. Same with WRX and STi hatches.
It ain't easy!
Oh, and sadly used is not an option. It'll be a company car lease.
Not particularly excluding Subaru, but Subaru is excluding Subaru. Nothing interesting fits the bill.
The closest you may get is a '13 WRX or STI Hatchback. BMW sells a 3 series awd sports wagon (like VW) in the U.S. if your company will let you play with the big boys.
Is the BMW 3 series awd sports wagon available with a manual? I thought they were automatic only.

CTS sportcwagon? If you drop the AWD requirement, focus ST and Mazdaspeed 3 become options.
I believe that the Mazda CX-5 is available with AWD and a 6-speed manual in Canada.
I'm actually looking at Volvo XC70s for a similar reason. Except ... I expect "fun" is limited to hooning about on snow.
The Mazdas have hideous grins and stink of cheap plastic. The Subarus have some inexplicable E36 M3tyness about them... but drive ok. Audi is completely awesome on a test drive but just as frighting as VW (also awesome) if relying on the thing is important... BMW is balla money even when saying "Volvo" out loud. They are the one to buy... but... $45k for a 4x4 wagon? Nope. I am unsure what to do here too. Acadia? 2012 Volvo? 1972 Caprice Estate Wagon and $5k in upgrades?
In reply to Giant Purple Snorklewacker:
Caprice?
A3, it's really a shame that you can't get a synchro with manual with a tdi?
Do those Volvo V60s have a manual option? I like the way they look.
edit: ugh, no manual and no dual clutch either...
It's odd that Volvo is trying to become more performance orientated but remove the manual transmission from their high end AWD cars. V70R was great.
@Javelin, sigh, no CX5 AWD manual available.... I had hope when I read your post, even though it is getting firmly into SUV territory.
Count me among the few who didn't like the CX-5. Don't see what the fuss is about, and yes, I drove a '15.
Quick resurrection. Not a new car, but I'd forgotten about this unicorn one until I saw one at lunch time. VW Passat B5.5 with the W8 and f 4 motion. The one I saw at lunch and the one owned by an acquaintance are both manuals as well.
Were those Passat W8 4Motion manual unicorns wagons?
Anyways, got a Countryman Cooper S All4 6 speed manual. It's fun to drive and hasn't fallen apart yet , now at 2600km.
It looks kinda funny, but the good surprise is that the stock exhaust actually has a bit of a growl to it!
