Don't know what happened to my original thread, the demons of GRM musta ate it. Oh wells.
Recap: I bought a 2004 Jaguar X-Type and I was looking to see if anybody had any information on common issues or things I should be looking out for. I didn't see much after doing a search, just something on tranny issues but there was nothing of detail in there. Anybody care to shed any light?
It's a 3L with the automatic. Thanks!
My mother-in-law owns the same car. She hasn't really had any issues out of it. But, she also doesn't put that many miles on it.
An old roommate of mine got one, he loves it.
The only problems I know he had were the wipers, they died in a rain storm on the highway (suppose it has to remind you of its roots). He had the dealer tackle that one.
He had brakes or ball joints (don't recall) replaced, but they were high mileage parts so nothing out of the ordinary.
He also has had people steal the hub caps (more like wheel center caps) because they have that pretty kitty on them.
From what I remember the research I did they share allot with the European Ford Mondeo and the Jag bits are nice upgrades for the Ford guys. They both should be reliable cars.
Thanks. I'm really looking forward to getting to know this thing a little. Wonder how it's going to do at BeaveRun...
I like this car. This is a lot of fun to drive, even though I've only had it about three days.
What I need to do now is go drive one of the sport versions and see if I like the suspension more or less. That sounds like it might be a good upgrade if I can find one at a junkyard...
Has anybody seen any good websites for wheels? I'd like to keep the 17"s but go about an inch, inch and a half wider.
