So get this: The "hot" engine is a 2.4-liter 4-banger that makes a whopping 182 HP and returns something less than 32 mpg? This thing has got big crashing failure written all over it.
Edit: Shoot. I spent 10 minutes searching for the other Dart thread, and there it is on the first page.
Yep, I think that is because no one cares. Yawn is right...
Less than 32 what? Combined?
IL reported that it gets 27 City/39 Hwy/32 Combined with the 1.4L Turbo.
I'm not understanding all the hate on this car before it even comes out. Yeah it's got a 182 hp engine as its top engine for now. I guarantee there is an SRT engine in the works.

I like the water splash up through the hood vents
How often does the hot-rod version of a car come out at launch? The Focus SVT came out a few years after the Focus launched, the ST is coming a year or two after the new one came out, the MazdaSpeed 3 came out a few years after the 3 launched, the Abarth came a couple of years after the 500 came out, the ACR and RT Neons a few years after the Neon came out, etc, etc, etc. Wait a year or two and a 300hp SRT version will come along, until then the 182hp will do just fine.

Well, in the US market, it was under a year...

I'm not really a violent person, but I want to brutally murder everyone who commented on that video.

Wow, I never read them before, but most of those people are total asshats.

Asshats is putting it mildly I think.
Serious bench racing and at least one person claiming more skill than Travis Pastrana.
wow.. I feel more stupid just for looking at the comments. Literally a black hole of intelligence
"Back in the 50's private owners were making their cars go 200 miles of 2 gallons of gas. Those thing were steal beast, heavy and large. 60 years later we still cant get something go that far. 41mpg how sad."
This one is too funny, he obviously has zero concept of what mpg cars got in the '50's. 10 to 15 mpg was common.
I don't think the Dart is that bad. It's aimed at a different market than most of us would shop in, and that's OK. It's pretty inexpensive, decent looking enough for most people, and the mpg isn't all that bad. The Neon sold well and I think this one will too.
As for the guys leaving comments, i think they are mostly old guys that think the world ended when E bodies went out of production. For the record, old Darts drove horribly bad by today's standards. That doesn't mean they aren't cool, but they never were a great car. I imagine the new one would run rings around the old versions.
YouTube comments exist at the same level of discourse as truck stop bathroom graffiti.

same guys who decried that the Holden GTO was not a real GTO. I guess by their standards, the new Corvette is not a real Corvette either. The Dart is just the evolution of the original.. with thirty years missing in the middle.
And Just imagine if the Dart nameplate had been on a Kcar?
I hate the Robocop rear light treatment...
I like the "racetrack" lighting
I think it looks better on the Dart than it does on the Charger.

...and yet dollars to donuts he probably doesn't even own a car.
I simply can't hate on this.
Pastrana is having a BLAST in his life--win
Dodge putting themselves into a non-NASCAR motorsport--win
Block and Pastrana are buds. Guaranteed Block is happy about this vid--especially since DC decals are on his car (and Block's money came from owning DC)--win
There's simply NOTHING negative going on here.
I'd rock one as a daily driver. There will always be a soft spot in my heart for little Mopars.
Well, I just read the review in the new Car & Driver, and I may have to reconsider my position. They praise the Dart's driving dynamics rather highly. If they figure out the powertrain, the Dart may be an interesting drive. Especially considering it's base price.
In reply to gamby:
There is something terribly negative, and that is the fact I can't drive that car.

The scary part is that a lot of these people can (and do) vote.

That's something we can definitely agree on. That is scary.

how is the 182 hp low? seems completely inline and even above most of its competitors. not to mention it is a multiair tech engne so it wil have a much broader tq curve than most na engines.
