It is still really ugly, but yes, it does work better now.
Now I can log in from my ps3, don't know if it was you guy's or an update from playstation but this is awsome!
Expect to see me around alot more, SWEET!!!
the point is not to be pretty, it's to let people know all of the cool stuff that we've got going on.

I completely agree with getting the infrastructure right and then getting the styling done. I can only urge you put lots of thought into the navigation of the site, and de-clutter the front page.
The big white backgrounds for your modules actually make it look worse than it is. It would be like putting white backgrounds on all the buttons and switches on a dashboard.
As for IE 6, never worry about formatting for that thing. By the time it works in IE6 (which even MS now admits was a huge mistake) it doesn't work for everything else.
I do not envy your next few months as everyone clambers for the front page, and only a few really need to make it there. Visit delta.com and try to remember what the old homepage looked like.
They started MUCH more cluttered than you, and their Web Dude (met him at a conference, great guy) finally beat the rest of the company into submission.
OK. As the semi-official computer dinosaur, I like it, BUT just narrow the page so it fits my 9 year old computer screen. Do I win a T-shirt for liking it !!!
meh, needs work and if I see the code right you are using absolutes for image sizes rather than variables. I prefer the variable since it works on different resolutions better IMO
Has anyone mentioned the fonts here on the forum being bigger? Why are the fonts bigger?! I'm losing my ever loving mind here!
I was very surprised when I logged on a little while ago. Not the same as this morning. Once I got over the initial shock, it's OK. It will get better guys. They promised.
Oh yeah, make the red a real red not that faded E36 M3.

Respectfully, no it didn't. That was some clean, solid code. If you don't like it anymore, just want a change or have different priorities than when it was built, those are all fair reasons for a change. But technically it was top tier stuff.

Bookmark this link (http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/latest-topics/) and it takes you right to the latest topics. Even better.
As for the new home page, I don't envy you guys. Web design is tough.

I'm kinda liking the new layout. It's a little more busy but I can actually find things from one main page. Well done and should be even better with all the kinks worked out.
That said... still wish all my old post from the last update/change transfered! I have better dork status!

I so appreciate this... Especially for those of us who are not using IE6 by choice.
If I could update, I would. But I can't. We are being told that we will be able to upgrade to IE8 (and only IE8) sometime this fall.
Oh, and by the way, the layout isn't working in IE6. the main picture blocks are down below the side area.
Now would be a good time to get used to some level of change, because there's more coming.
As was mentioned above, there were (and still are) some issues with the structure and administration of the old site that are the primary purpose of this change. We're working on mouse-over messages and previews, along with pull-down menus for the tabs at the top of the page.
We appreciate your patience was we continue to make improvements.
Have any plans to set up a test environment so that changes aren't deployed before they're fully baked?
sarcasm is fun, I haz some. I dont mind the change, in fact, I like a lot of whats going on, including the faded glory red banner. I am however always on the lookout for a good place to post a SNL spinoff reference.

+1
About the only time I even see the front page is when I need to re-logon.
You'll need to log in to post.
