OK, I go to the Mazda USA site to browse Mazda3s...The sample picture of a Mazda3 is BLUE. However, if I select the base model my color choices are silver or black. That's it. Are you kidding me? Now, try the Sport model...You get 2 versions of silver and black and white. Again, are you kidding me? Touring adds yet another version of silver (3 now) and red. Big deal. Grand Touring adds a second version of red. THERE IS NO BLUE, EVER. The largest variety you can choose from is grey #1, grey #2, grey #3, white, black, red #1, red #2. This has got to be the most boring choice of colors on a car I've ever heard of (don't tell me the old Model T joke). God forbid you want to buy a base model and don't like silver or black. What the hell, Mazda?

I hope that's some kind of mistake. The blue colors they've put on mazda3s in the past (especially the one on the most recent ones) have been fantastic imo.
Mazda3 has had the best color palette of all compact cars ever since day 1, imo. It would suck to go from that to.. almost nothing?
I want the booger snot green.

Is only good for temporary advertising. I can't wait for that fad to die down.
That killer blue has moved to the Mazdaspeed3 only. And yes, it sucks that they did that.
Easy solution - buy the Mazdaspeed3.
The new Ford Focus comes in a shade of blue that is almost the same.
Just saying.
I think this ....fixation(?) on the color grey/silver needs to end YESTERDAY!!!!!
Honda is almost as bad on nearly all their models, not just the Civic. Why in the heck offer 2 or 3 shades of grey to the exclusion of blue or yellow or green? Because folks in the product planning / marketing department say that grey/silver is a popular color. Me? I think there's a chance that other colors would be more popular if they were OFFERED. If it ain't even offered...how can you know it would or wouldn't be popular.
Man, I remember when the Ford Festiva, and then the Aspire were put on sale. I used to wonder, what made them think these colors would be attractive? I'm thinking of that non-metallic blue that Festivas were painted, and the dark blue Aspires were painted. I chalked it up, eventually, to the fact that these were Korean cars and Koreans like their cars to be painted in colors that resembled taxicabs.
While the car itself was a misery to drive, my '76 Pinto (painted a light/sky blue) was soothing to drive and look at. Of course it also had a dark(ish) blue interior.
Please, car manufacturers, stop selling cars and trucks that resemble refrigerators with wheels. GIVE US SOME COLOR.
I think this color (of vinyl wrap) would be lovely on the Mazda2 (I believe the Mazda3 looks are horrid so I won't even touch on that);

Just get it in whatever color you can find with the options you want and wrap it, the paint will probably be better protected this way anyway, further helping with resale later.
I read somewhere a few years ago that the automotive color palette follows the previous season's/year's lingerie colors or something like that...
The Mazdaspeed3 is not available in the blue either. There is no blue, period. It's good enough for the splash page on the website but not for purchase. The only color in the entire range is red, the rest are all gray-scale selections. Absolutely rediculous.
Strange. Saddening. True.

Be careful what you ask for. They will probably replace it with various shades of BEIGE!
Toyota cornered that market.

A new one? Have you seen them? You'd take that back if you had haha.
Grey/silver...it IS the new BEIGE!!!!
As long as forrest green doesn't make a comeback I'm cool with silver sticking around.
Looks like the other colors are in the Touring models.
Great cars but I always hated the way the marketing asshats at Mazda set up their option packages...

I vastly prefer beige (and pretty much anything on the brown spectrum) to silver. Just sayin..
I see two different shades of blue offered for the 2012 Mazda 3.
Celestial Blue and Gunmetal Blue.

Try to find those colors through the "build a vehicle" feature.
Maybe the website is just jacked up.

I like a nice metallic forrest green. Loved it on my old Tib
Edit
Something to add.. we are still in the middle of a recession/depression. People do not take chances during these times.. bright Red or Blue, or other non-conservative colours are not going to be in with the masses.
When (if) things look up and things get more cheery, we will see a return to brighter colours
