Electric motors stop producing power pretty suddenly when pushed beyond their design speed. It has to do with the timing of the coils. Lots of tq but little top end. The Tesla S is limited to 130mph, but runs a 12.6 1/4 mile. It's a strange new world.
I love watching it bounce between regen and go.
