Porsche is teasing turbo 4-powered "718" Boxster and Cayman models. http://www.porsche.com/specials/en-us/usa/718/
I'm interested in seeing where this one goes. There are some interesting turbo four cylinder cars out there.

Am I the only one who sees the irony of a small American company also making a turbo flat-four-powered car with damn near the same numerical designation?

Factory Five?

Just took me a minute.
I wonder if these will be cheaper like the 912 and 914, midrange like the Ecoboost Mustang, or high-end like an SVO. Porsche usually loves special editions. This 718 tie-in sounds like a preemptive framing of the debate on these cars.
Most Porsches have gotten so gawdafull expensive, it'd certainly be nice to see one sub-$40k but I'm not holding my breath. The CLA Mercedes seems to be getting a bad rap for sub-traditional-Mercedes quality. Porsche would be making a big mistake if they entered the market with an inferior product. They'd be better off starting a new brand or not doing it at all.
