Reg cab is the short cab in Ford terms. But they won't make a super-long Raptor because it would kinda go against what it's designed for. It's not Ford's fault everyone goes "ooh, shiny expensive big truck" and buys that version when they really needed a regular F-150 (which is more capable as a truck at the expense of not being able to drive over stuff as well).
I agree, though in my case what I need out of a truck is one with no carpet and the 8 foot bed and maybe AC. Heck I don't even have power windows on the superduty. But I use it 85% of the time hauling something in the bed or as a truck.
Ford knows what they are doing on Trucks, just does not match up with me except in the fleet department stuff.

the big question is how much V8 exocet with Paco suspension does $65k get again?
Why wouldn't you want a truck that has good suspension and screws? It's the way trucks should be.

28k for 390 hp v8 and the setup I want ain't bad.
Do want. Something about a truck called the Raptor thats also fast makes me very happy.
Bonus points if you nickname your new Raptor "Clever Girl.

Thank your son for me. I really appreciate it.
In reply to wearymicrobe:
You can get most of that stuff, just not in a Raptor. The Raptor isn't really built to do truck stuff, as the lower payload and tow ratings show. It just happens to be truck shaped.

By now, haven't you guys figured out that 1) this kind of want is very not in the main stream, and 2) it's incredibly unprofitable to sell lowball cars and trucks. Everyone and their brother have abandoned that market for normal consumers.
It's been 20 years since trucks were sold as work trucks to normal consumers.

Yeah, I used to buy the bottom of the barrel work trucks, but got tired of punishing myself, especially on long trips towing. Give me leather, lumbar, heated seats, power everything please!

I get a kick out of comparing my 2016 focus to my 1995 escort. It's incredible how nice it is. And, the base price for a sedan escort on 1995 was $10,970. Adjusted for inflation that's $17,142 in 2016 dollars. Not far behind the base Focus sedan at $18,100. You get a whole lot more safety, comfort, economy and ride quality for that additional 1,000 bucks.
Now, a 1995 escort gt in today's money is 22,096, and an st is 24,425. A bit of an increase but I would say the st is at least 2,300 dollars more of a car;)
Wow, I'm having flashbacks. We've had this conversation at least twice in the last month.

Quite a bit Although the load capacity might be slightly lower than a Raptor.
I love that the Raptor exists. I wish it wasn't quite so large and it can't do what I personally need a truck to do, but I heartily approve.

e have all figured it out we just buy used or Fleet. I would not step foot in a Ford dealer on a new truck right now on a bet. Things drop like a stone after 3 years. I bet I could get a F350 King Ranch 3 years old alomst 4050% off new sticker right now if I tried.
Not going to as I haul manure in my trucks but we all know the score here. I think most people are upset that guys are buying trucks as luxury vehicles in such large numbers that it screws the build cycles. There was a while there where you had a hard time finding XLT trucks that were significantly cheaper then a lariat they loaded them up so much.
If I had to buy new I would find a nice 4x4 F350 reg cab with maybe a power option and drive it till I died.

All I'm pointing out is that if you went to a Chevy, Ram, Toyota, or Nissan dealer, you'd see the same thing- no real work trucks.
It sucks, but it is reality.
.tons of them make it off-road. Head out West to CO, CA, UT, AZ, NM--- anywhere out West and you'll see tons of these heading off pavement.
There are tons of them on the road here in AZ - pretty much exclusively piloted by flat brim roid brotards, their tat covered stripper/porn star looking wives, and over privileged ASU fratboy douchebags.
Used for off road? No. Status symbol for vain knuckle draggers? Yes.
I mean the base model Raptor list for $48k. Still a good chunk of change but if you don't need all those creature comforts and just want to bro around - well then you can have one for under $50k. I agree that truck prices are nuts as are full size SUVs like the Tahoe, Expedition, etc. But I don't want to touch that subject again. Too many people (coughcoughKeithTannersneezecough) raged hard on me.

I have to admit, when I see a Raptor it gives me evil thoughts about building something similar out of an older truck. Although it would probably lack most of the creature comforts (although I'd keep A/C).

If you don't need to haul things, just get the Fusion Sport.
They both have a turbo V6, but the Raptor gets 450hp and 510 lb-ft whereas the Fusion has 325hp and 350 lb-ft. Now, shove the Raptor V6 in the Fusion and my ears perk right up.

The raptor is 6k lbs. The Fusion is 3.5k. All that extra power is just wasted moving the extra mass around.
Most of them around here are parked in the doctors lots at the hospital. But I did see one a few weeks ago dirty dented and with the back bumper hanging off lol. Gotta give that guy credit
