This rumor has bounced around so many times in the past that I'll believe it when I see it. Also, afraid that Honda will find some way to screw it up.

Actually, it looks awfully NSX-sh.

Good point! So, chicken or egg?
And the article pretty much confirms that the S660 will not be exported to North America or Europe. Bummer.
^Not really poorly, but it will definitely show its age in the future, like an 80s car.
Still, I like it. Vastly better-looking than the ND IMO. I especially like that they fixed the overly-forward-raked silhouette of the previous S2k, its only visual flaw. The CF body kit shown in the article makes it look even better.

Yeah, that's what I was going to say too.
Do it, Honda!!!!!!
Sadly, that will net out close to 100k in the Canadian market. The first ones were over 60k back in the 90's. Miatas are currently 45k.
That said, in 10 years a drive south of the border will net me a nice one for bargain prices!

Nope. I also expect it to be some type of overly complex hybrid or something.

Considering Honda's mentality, I would also expect the hybrid as well. The article hints at the turbo 1.5L making 180hp. So it would make almost 60hp less than the previous models. Unless there is some crazy weight savings, that would make it likely significantly slower than the AP1/AP2
Yeah 180hp doesn't make sense unless there's an electric motor in there as well. They aren't making the S660/S1k hybrids so they may go ICE-only with this, but if they do I hope they put more power in there. People already complain about the Toyobaru at 200hp...
Oh, I wish Honda had gone to Mazda for platform sharing instead of Fiat. Fanboi head explosions everywhere!
In reply to GameboyRMH:
For it to maintain an equal power-to-weight ratio as the old cars, with 180hp, it would have to weigh 2050lbs. That's fairly unrealistic, considering the size of the car and all the emissions and crash garbage that it has to have.
Did you guys read the head line to the article? It states that it is to be a rival to the Miata, not the old S2000. So 180hp makes a lot of sense to me. It will also need to come in at a price point comparable to the Miata.
Yeah, it looks like Lexus had a baby with Mazda. I would be fine with the design if they were to call it something else. But the fact that this would be the "next S2000" makes me sad. This car looks to have very little to do with the previous version. You know how most next gen cars at least have something about the body lines to show its lineage? This car looks absolutely nothing like the original S2000 :/
