Honestly, I think the SEB got tired of not being in charge of CAM, so domestics being allowed in XS is a deliberate move.

I realized recently that some the language from Street Touring got lifted and used to define TimeTrial's Sport, or Touring (?) class restrictions... I wonder if the TT program's 'Max' catagories will be used as a basis here?
which seems unfortunately low. But, it seems like there should be some alignment between XS and one of the TT classes.
This is the info from the solo matters post.
Two New Supplemental Classes – Xtreme Street (XS) The purpose of the Xtreme Street Category is to attract automobile enthusiasts interested in autocross events with street vehicles using minimal rules that allow for creative modifications with limited restrictions. This category is intended to appeal to regional/local competitors who would like to compete with a modified car on street tires, but would be classed in high-prep race tire categories. XS will be eligible for competition at Tire Rack Solo Championship Tour and ProSolo events. The XS classes are not eligible for the Super or Ladies Challenges at ProSolos but will be eligible for the Bonus Challenge. No contingency will be offered for this class.
The EV-X class is aimed at 100% electric sports car-based automobiles giving them them a home to highlight their unique capabilities. This category is intended to appeal to regional/local competitors as well as National Solo events. It will also be eligible for competition at Tire Rack Championship Tour and ProSolo events, giving 100% electric vehicles a home that highlights their unique capabilities. This class is not eligible for contingency or Super or Ladies Challenges but will be eligible for the Bonus Challenge.
I was hoping it was confirmed in the solomatters post but it's not, I thought I heard out of the town hall where XS was announced was that the class was going to pull an idea from the OUSCI rule book and require cars to be registered and insured.
The class is called Xtreme STREET. putting the focus on street driven and legal vehicles, trying to stay away from racecars on 200tw. That doesn't mean a full tilt XS build won't be crazy or punishing on the street.

I gave up the edge and started to stand.
Now that they're adding classes, they ought to consolidate or eliminate classes that nobody runs in anymore. Like road racing, they should apply a sunset rule to classes that have little subscription at national tour events.

LESS CLASSES?! Now that's just crazy talk.

The SCCA, being the SCCA, is apparently ditching the National Tour format instead. It's been a very confusing day. The new hotness is apparently solo ProSolo? I think it's time to sell the Boxster and buy something with a transbrake?

ProSolo has been a thing for 30+ years, Champ Tour isn't going anywhere.
In order to qualify to run at the prosolo Finale and compete for a Prosolo Points Championship you have to qualify by getting enough points. So there's a demand for more prosolos, especially when the sites to run them are few and far between.
Vegas is large enough to run a Prosolo, and the Houston site was not condusive to it and the addition of the AZ Champ Tour made changing vegas to a prosolo a no brainer, at least to me.

Mike King and the SEB have stated class consolidation is an agenda they plan to address.

The rules are: There ain't no dang rules!
Hmmm, I can cut 150lbs out of my car to meet XS-B minimum weight.
Niche-market classing is going to kill this sport.
This is fine as far as it goes, but wasn't this kind of the original intent of ST, and then of CAM? To bring the "common mods" non-autocross people into the fold?

Good point, but ST was far too restrictive and CAM is American car only. This is the first class outside of XP to allow cross-make engine swaps, RHD, and legally importable cars. All of those are going to be huge for participation. Think "Spec LS swap" for this class on the RWD cars at least. Should be a lot of fun!
I do wonder what will happen to SMF, CAM, and SP though.
There was discussion of "CIM" last year. Just take CAM and the proposed CIM and make this class. And didn't they add cross-make swaps to SM already?
But no, SCCA only ever adds categories, never takes them away.
Pretty soon local and regional events will be down to having 1-2 cars per class, or else lots and lots of rollup.
