Just bought it off my buddy for $500. He said it has a "knock", I'm yet to hear it or find the source. I drained the oil, pulled the pan, looked and cleaned. New oil, filter and RTV later, it's running like a top! Might need some carb tuning.

Sooo...I have a friend with one of those. The 2.6 puked, and while I was checking it out, I noticed it had an AW70 automatic, and I also had the bellhousing from a 240 Volvo...so he's been driving a Mitsu/Dodge/Volvo for the last several years. SU carbed B21A, with about an hour of motor mount fabrication, a short piece of exhaust pipe to join the Volvo downpipe to the mitsu exhaust, truck rad, and off we go. I've often threatened to find a 740 turbo and upgrade the fuel system to EFI, but I think, having driven the truck, that might be a ticket to flaming death.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Lot's O' win in that picture for $500. How bad is the rust in the bottom of the doors and fenders? Not that it reeeeallly matters.
Cool truck. I think the Talon/Eclipse turbo engine bolts to that manual trans!
More importantly, good to see you around here.

Thank ya! Little bit of a lull in the race season before it gets super busy. Thought I'd blow the dust off the ol' user name and see what GRM has going haha

Hmm so I need to lookout for a late 80s dodge 50 truck? Redblocks lay around my shop and id love an easy button to a b230ft pickup
Damn that's cool. All of them up this way have died from rust a long time ago. I'd pay double that for the same truck.

Yep. The bell housing swap on the automatic made it easy. I presume there would be a couple more issues fitting either the Volvo engine to the Mitsu trans, or the M46 into the truck, but really, how hard could it be?

This intrigues me...
My nephews GF has a 79 Plymouth Arrow version of that Mitsubishi complete with cheeseball awesome factory graphics. I have been trying to resist the temptation to trade her something for it.
I don't need another project, but when does anyone not need a pickup?
If you don't come up with a set of "Hoodrat Edition" stickers for the tailgate, you have no soul and are dead to me.
Cool truck.
if that wheel bolt pattern is the same as GM trucks, i've got a set of kind of crusty 15X10 wire spoke wheels that would really contribute to the hoodrat theme:
going cheap, want them gone out of my garage:

Did you buy a E36 M3ty slammed Chevy 1500 on east lake? I swear I've seen those on the mexico specials down there.
they were on my girlfriend's 64 C10 stepside.. some idiot in Georgia thought they would look good on that truck for some reason, and she bought it with those wheels on it about a decade ago... we found a set of nice 80's rally wheels off a Blazer for cheap and put those on the truck instead.. so now these are taking up room in my garage.. will trade for a good newer battery for said truck: they would look downright secksy on the lil Ram this thread is about..
I've owned two of these in the past, great trucks.
The first one was sitting in a field and cost me $35 my senior year of high school. Rebuilt the carb and drove it for the next 18 months.
Picked up a 4x4 version later, and swapped in a Mitsu 4d55t turbo diesel. Damn i miss that truck...
