Today I lashed out a made yet another vehicle purchase, this time it was for my wife though.
Mrs Aussie is now the proud owner of a E46 330xi black.
She no longer has to punt my latest sub $1K POS around, she has earned it.
Remember this woman has allowed me 18 cars prior to getting her own.
I love my wife.
Congrats,
Coupe or sedan?
6 speed?
I ask because I am in the market. Been looking for an E36 M3 sedan but am willing to consider a coupe. I want to drive a E46 330 coupe with sport package and see how I like it.
Sporting the new rims and tires this year
Nice. It's always a good idea to keep the Mrs. happy, 'lest she make you rather... less-than-happy. I wouldn't mind an AWD 3 Series for a weather car around here, how's it handle vs. the RWD?
Honestly, it is my...err her, first BMW, it is nippy, stable and fun, looks awesome and she is happy.
I also liked the AWD, in NW Ohio we have seen some snow lately.

Nice Bimmer. Great colour for it.
Do you guys not have to run front plates over there?
friend of mine here has a-x'ed and track dayed her auto 330xi for several yr with pretty good success (has retired it to daily service only now... civic track day car taking the bimmers place at the track and a-x)
she didn't do anything to it except tires, was actually pretty quick
Luke, made the purchase in Indiana, they do not require front plates, but we live in Ohio where they do, so when the title arrives in the mail, I will get Ohio plates/tags and the front plate will go on, unfortunately.
Promised the wife, no racing and client transport, this one is hers
In fact our 16 year old will probably use it more than anyone, he took off for hours with his mates last night, I don't even have a key.
I haven't posted in this thread for a bit.
We just did front brakes and CV axles, they were pretty bad but really easy to work on and quickly the job was done.
Did find a broken rear shock, which is next to get replaced
Mods, this could be moved to the Build Thread please
A year or so ago this happened, a freaking shopping trolley in Walmart slammed into the car. They denied liability of course.
Today we installed new rear shocks, one was completely useless, I also installed new upper mounts
Wow, really? One of those cart-corrals blew into our old Villager minivan at a Walmart during a massive windstorm, and they didn't give us any hassles in paying for the damage.
the giant signs at the wal mart in van wert state there not liable for damage just for that reason. They got tired of paying to repair cars when people were too lazy to push the carts into the corral.
A shopping cart did that? Was it shot from a cannon? My wife laughs at me because I want to hang boat bumpers around the car when I park it.
A couple of updates
Had some issues lately.
First a local snow plow struck the car in the rear left side, shattering the rim, bending the stay rod, the strut and the sub frame. Get this, the plow kept going, this was a big shunt, no way they didn't know. I have spoken to the local municipality and they stated we have to report it to the police. My question is, are they saying to report a "Hit and Run". I got a quote then we started seeking parts, after they were all sourced we did a parts swap. Surprisingly after the parts were done the car tracked straight and true and we escaped any body damage.
We just struggled to find the cause of a lack of performance, no downshifting, infrequent complete power starving, and a myriad of other issues. We changed a few sensors and ran OBDII tests but could not tie it down, a coolant pressure test failed to find the problem, finally after consulting with a BMW mechanic the problem was identified as being the throttle body, which we swapped and viola all seems good again
Love some 330xi
328xi will probably be my next tho
Did the front rotors, pads and one caliper last week and today we inspected the front end and found the lower control arm bushings to be destroyed, so I am ordering a complete front end kit, rear rotors and pads for the next service.
Now at 160k, our kid has added 70k since we picked it up.
Wow, the E46 cars seem much more reliable than my E36.
