Was talking with one of my suppliers today. He is a car nut and is absolutly excited about racing this weekend at their new track, High Plains Raceway. Completely owned by racers, no chance of residential encroachment, neat looking track. 2.5 miles and several good elevation changes. Too bad it's so far way from me. 60 miles east of Denver. They have a nice website, too. www.highplainsraceway.com . Enjoy.

They're still a far way off on any amenities tho. As in, all that's there is 2 porta potties. No water, no air, no food, no shade. In town there isn't super unleaded gas available.

Hopefully in the next few years more capital is raised and things get added...

Yes, we have had a few small items in the magazine and need to get out there. Talk about a success story: They broke ground in the summer and are already up and running.

Me too! I haven't been out there yet. It's not exactly next door, but it's probably the nearest "big track" in terms of driving time. Should be less than 5 hours

Unfortunately, they broke ground just in time for asphalt prices to spike bigtime. If they'd run on the original schedule, it would have saved a boatload. The track is the result of a lot of work by a lot of dedicated people, a great story of a community coming together instead of a land developer deciding to make Yet Another Country Club Track.
