OK so they will be calling it a Cruze because Tome will be the companys savior or something... but I gotta say I like the looks in racer form.

I almost like this paint better (think it is the same car though)
Grabbed from Autoblog
Why the F do they keep changing the name!!?!?!?!! Cobalt was actually getting to be well known as a decent little car and the SS as a great track car, WHY CHANGE IT!!!?!?!!!! And why replace it with something as stupid sounding as "Cruze" and a car that looks like it's bigger then a damn Malibu?!?!?

It only looks big, They are dimensionally identical to the Ion and the Cobalt. If you notice the quarters and rear doors are pretty much identical to Ion peices.
You think GM would learn from Ford's mistake when they replaced the Escort and Taurus with the 3 F cars (Fusion, Frenzy, and Flex). All the old-timers who loved those cars complained to all hell about where there Taurus went. Along came the Ford 500 and then after all the bitching was said and done Ford put the Taurus badge on it. I don't think the Escort will be coming back though.
it looks really big. Have they learned NOTHING
a car that looks like it's bigger then a damn Malibu?!?!?
Stupid comments. The photos have no indicator of scale. It could be as big as an ocean-liner or as small as a matchbox.

Agreed. I am not a lover of GM products but I think it looks OK to fairly good. Let's at least give them a chance on this one.
I'm usually the most vocal defender of GM on this board. My point is the car looks like it's big, and as we know perception is 10/9ths the law when it comes to GM. My bigger problem is the rename. When will the idiot bean counters learn that you start ALL over every time you rename something? Ala Ford Five Hundred / Taurus. Leave it COBALT you dolts!

Exactly what I said. It LOOKS big. Perception is everything.

It's still the Cobalt here. It's the Cruze in Europe. No biggie.
As for it looking big, that's just a proportions issue. The beltline is really high and the wheels aren't huge per se. The "smaller" (i.e. "normal" sized wheels make the beltline and side view seem even more chunky and slab-sided.
Props to GM for having the current Cobalt SS be such a dominant track car. The Car and Driver track comparo made it look like a really impressive car.

I wasn't necessarily talking about the Focus as much as Ford dropping the names and the older population not recognizing the new car with new name as a replacement.
Is there any significance in that it says GM-Europe? Will this be a Euro version? Or maybe just called the Cruze in Europe? Inquiring minds want to know.
GAH!! Ugliest headlight/taillight combo ever?? I don't know why so much arbitrary styling effort goes into those two pieces of a car. I know the cobalt is pretty sound mechanically but it seems many manufacturers (especially GM) seem to be more interested in the shape of the lights than petty details like...ANYTHING ELSE!! For me it does nothing. /rant sorry.

Regardless, the new Fiesta looks like a kickass little car (Top gear just did a KILLER segment on it)

It's supposedly coming to our shores soon. This is the Ford product we need.

I think they will be calling it the Cruze here, too.

Ouch. OK--it's a cheezy name for a US market car. Sounds like a late-80's Hyundai name.
At least it's not alphanumeric. We certainly don't need another QXR200 out there.
