Tom Cruise is going to play Carrol Shelby?
wasn't he like 6 and a half feet tall?
they are going to have to do some pretty serious forced perspective camera work to pull this off..
"According to the Hollywood Reporter Cruse will play the driver turned ace engineer, who raced his way to victory in the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans alongside Englishman Roy Salvadori before his attention to design.
However the film will concentrate on the epic construction war between the Ford Motor Company and Italian sports car designer Enzo Ferrari.
The battle finally came to a head at the 1966 Le Mans race, with his Shelby American supporting Ford in its successful bid to win the race with a mid-engined Ford GT40."
Wonder if Pitt is playing Salvadori or Enzo?
Based on Tom Cruises' previous racing movie experience this one ought to be superb. If only Stallone would come on board to seal the deal.
"I know Bob Bondurant! He always goes to the outside" --Phil Hill (played by Cary Elwes)
This is based on the the book "Go Like Hell" Written by A.J. Baime.

Really well written book. My father and I really enjoyed reading it.
My concern is Tommy saying 'I want to play Carroll Shelby in a movie!' Rather than saying 'I want to make a movie about Carroll Shelby.'

Overheard from movie set assistant director, "Where's Mr. Cruise's milk crate?!"
I'm nervous about how it may turn out, but there's little doubt that Cruise is a car guy- I don't know of any other actor who has driven a modern F1 car- whereas he took some laps in a Red Bull.
Not a great driver, but not bad.

I sense sarcasm there, yet irony.
When the book was originally optioned in '76, Lestat was supposed to be played by Rutger Hauer.
I am a virtual cornicopia of useless movie and TV trivia, not much unlike DiNozzo from NCIS.
I'm stoked to see it. I loved "Go Like Hell" it was probably one of the better motorsport history narratives I've ever read.
I hope this turns out well.
