So this doesn't get lost in the Challenge rules thread, I was looking at the NHRA link that was posted.

What do they mean be pressurized bottles DOT (1800)? Also for a taillight, would a rain light work?

If you have pressurized bottles on board (air, CO2, etc), they must be properly mounted, stamped and DOT rated for 1800#.

They're talking about nitrous bottles.

The tail light is there so the starter can see when you pull off at the top end, so they know the track is clear and they can send the next car, and so the guy in the other lane can see where you are. There's lots of strips that have pretty marginal lighting at the top end.

Translation:

Don't put nitrous in a thermos.

Will this happen?

For a tail light, anything works. I have seen flashlights taped inside a tail light housing. The wiring all the way to the back must have been too heavy.
