Short story - the bill at the dealer for changing the oil, trans fluid, and diff fluid on the GTR was $2009.67. Oh yeah - and they got a deal. This means that the most basic of maintenance on this thing is outside of the GRM budget.
Short story is also that we can laugh at the idiots for not 1) doing half of that themselves, and 2) looking around for better pricing on their materials.
Seriously? Who the HELL pays $150 in LABOR for a damn oil change.
That's their fault. I'm not going to say it's not pricey even after shopping around, but they could have EASILY chopped a large chunk of that price with some common sense.
What they don't understand is that for the average GTR OWNER (not fanboi), they aren't going to give a E36 M3. They're going to pay it and then use that amount to brag to their buddies. (My oil change cost more than your whole damn car, aren't i just so berkeleying awesome that i can afford that E36 M3?!?!?!)
The $150 labor for the oil change on a car that requires removal of the under body tray isn't nearly as offensive as the transmission requiring 8 quarts of oil that list at $115 per quart.

I just saved $360 with 20 seconds of internet searching!! And i'm sure it's out there for cheaper than this, too.

$140.00 per quart with shipping after hazmat charge

Are you serious? I didn't go that far.... i don't feel like registering at that site.
yet another reason not to buy one....
$500 in labor to change the transmission fluid? On some cars you can spend less in labor to change the whole transmission.
I hate those cars. They are just a name and a 0-60 time, thats about it. If they wernt called a skyline, and didnt have the transmission self destruct button to get the performance numbers for the magazines, i dont think anyone would even buy them.

It'd save over $500 to fill the trans and diff with Astroglideā¢ instead of the Nissan special fluid. Insert joke about being butt-reamed by the service manager here. Also, for god's sake don't Google "Astroglide tranny fill".

Is this the voice of experience talking?

Yeah. A similar thing happened when my wife needed some advice when she was doing yardwork, so she came in to google "bush trimming."

Actually, I was disturbed enough by what I saw trying to find out how much a quart of it costs. So I can only imagine...
And if you're wondering, yes, I had to clear my search bar cache when I realized "Astroglide quart price" was at the top.
Ha! I still would rather spend coin on an R-32-34. Still cooler.

Yep, my girlfriend made the same mistake when she saw a brown fuzzy animal near the stream and pond behind our house. She went to google image search to try to figure out what it was. She tried Muskrat, nope, not it, Otter, nope, Beaver...Yikes! I made fun of her for quite some time about that one.
The Skyline GTR-R34 is a better-looking car in my opinion. I wish those berkeleyers would have sold them to us over here. We would have eaten them alive!
"Skyline" doesn't show up anywhere on this new car, does it? Actually, does it? Is it like calling the Corvette Z06 just a "Z06" since everyone knows it's a Vette?
I understand changing the oil and filter on a regular basis.
Does the transmission, axle fluid, air filters, and cabin filters need to be changed at 18,000 miles?
No. The GTR Skyline is dead. Regular Skylines are/were like our G-35/37s
$2009.67 I could almost get the motor in the AC/VW rebulit. E36 M3!

Porsche/Ferrari/Lambo owners.
So I could fund a challenge car every 18000 miles, cool thoughts, ouch my wife is beating me, she knows that smirk
I'd still take one, or two. I know enough to get mine serviced a whole lot cheaper.

To put things in another interesting perspective...how many of us have spent as much (or more) changing the fluids out as we did purchasing the vehicle? I know I have! Sure the service on the GTR cost a lot, but percentage wise they're way ahead of the service cost on some of my beaters.

My DD (95 Civic hatch) came in at a cool $2100. I missed winning the Showcase by $90.33
