Ever since Nissan revealed the Z Proto last year, we’ve been eager to learn what the production version will end up being like.
[What we know so far about the next Nissan Z-car]
Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too much longer.
Nissan just announced that it will unveil the production version of the new Z-car August 17 of this …

I'm excited to see the final specs, price, and design. I had a Z31 in high school and college 20+ years ago and owned a Z33 about 11 years ago.
The kicker for me will be is if the interior is still super cheap like it was in my Z33, even in an upper-trim level.
I hope they've been listening to feedback and checking out some of the fan renderings for improvements. It sounds like Nissan is trying to rekindle some lost magic and I'm rooting for them.
I also selfishly hope it creates even higher prices for 240zs. ;)
If nothing else, I appreciate that it's not a rebadged BMW. If it can undercut the Supra on price, that's icing on the cake.
Twin turbo V6 sounds fun and the current design is an improvement over the catfish-looking 370Z. I also like the fact the website says "available with manual transmission" on pretty much every page/screen. With that said, I'm guessing it'll be too expensive for me to consider for at least a fe more years. Maybe they can do what the Supra did and have a lower-priced lower-power version?
What I really want to see is a production version of the 510 concept.
It never occurred to me and I learned this the other day watching this video.
John Morton won SCCA in 240Z's early but you couldn't buy a Z so Pete Brock moved to a car that Datsun had in the showrooms - win on Sunday, sell on Monday. The Datsun 510.
If we can't buy the new Z maybe Nissan will have a cool sedan ready to release. Ha ha ha ha - I'm funny.
Just in time for my latest midlife crisis!
But, eh, I'm pretty cheap so I'll probably end up with a basket case Porsche Boxster instead.

That doesn't sound cheap.
Assuming those are not 22" wheels, it's looking good.

If they did something like this or the IDX and it was ~ $25k or less, I'd be at the dealer tomorrow.
I'm cheap, so the $25k or less works. Z-car will be more than I want to spend....
It blows my mind that it's taken them this long to replace the 370Z. The Q60 came out with a 400hp version of the VR30 5 years ago...

Really? Ghosn left Nissan (among others) in rubble, there's been a global pandemic for the last year and a half, and the stick shift sports car market continues to be miniscule. Doesn't surprise me in the least that its taken this long.
I'd be a buyer if I was in the position to buy a new fun car. With that said, I find it truly amazing that as bad as Nissan's general product lines are, they can make stuff so good as the GTR and Z. Sure the GTR and 370Z are long in the tooth, but the GTR is still extremely competitive and the 370Z was a hell of a performance bargain. Meanwhile they frequently update their mainline products yet lag behind the competition, yet their exciting stuff is competitive years after they are introduced.

Tell me about it. And yet I can totally see it happening.

As cool as it looks it'll never happen. Look at those thin little pillars. Not going to pass any current rollovers.

It's not Ghosn or the pandemic. The 370Z went into production in 2008!

Ahh, but you (and I ) have no idea how much of the A pillar is hidden under the windshield.

With EVs, and drive by wire there could be a resurgence in coach builders. Use a platform of choice and produce bodies in small scale production and we have a new again business model.
I am thankful for RWD cars with manual transmissions and forced induction internal combustion engines
