575 hp Lingenfelter engine. And guess who gets to do the test driving? It may be a fun weekend.

Make sure you turn it up so you can duplicate the physical impact of that exhaust.

Rear wheel width is 9". When you weigh 1000 lbs less than a Z06, you don't need massive steamrollers. But you do need to engage brain.

Weight smeight....... 9" rims cannot possibly provide the necessary footprint width (315's minimum???) for this to even think about 'HOOKING UP'.......oh, but that's right when looking out the passenger window while making forward  progress (WOO) it's all GOOD!!!! Ytube for enlightenment????

A sister car did 0-30 in 1.5, 0-60 in 3.5 and 11.7 in the quarter on the same wheel/tire setup but with less power. They do okay.

They're 245s.

It's not finished yet, but we finally got all the parts in hand so we can make progress. Should be delivered to the new owner fairly soon.

do you guys put a package of adult diapers on the drivers seat when you deliver?   The driver might need them.  Seems like a sensical courtesy measure.  Would be a shame to mess the upholstery

I dearly want to drive a V8 Miata.

Just don't have the requisite cash flow. :)

I wonder what the income/worth of the turnkey buyers is? I feel like there should be a "if you are this high" sign next to them, but with money, that lets society and your wife know that it's ok to call Keith.

(This thought is in no way influenced by the stock market continuing to hit all time highs. Really.)

They're comfortable, no question. But really, this car is going to be less expensive than a Tesla P85D (which the customer also owns) or an turbo Atom (which both he and the next customer own). I believe this car is going to a doctor, although I haven't asked what type. The next one is going to a guy who builds his own solid fuel rocket engines for multistage, huge rockets that launch in the Nevada desert...for fun. No matter what their net worth, they're always interesting people because they don't do the obvious.

This Lingenfelter-engined car costs less than any 911. Our standard ND conversion, including the purchase price of the car, is about the same price as a base model Z06, BMW M550i or Cayman GT4. Want another option for a 575 hp convertible? That's probably the V8 Jaguar F-Type, which starts at $125,000 - but only as an automatic. If you already have a Miata, then the conversion costs as much as the base model BMW M2 coupe. So really, they are the budget choice.

And you don't need a massive income to own one. Hell, I've got one, and I'd probably have trouble getting approved for financing on a stock ND with my income. It's all about doing the work and hunting down the deals, just like it is in the Challenge. Only you've got years to do it in.

Keith, what is the front/rear weight distribution on these?

Keith Tanner

It's right in the video. We haven't had this one on the scales yet, but a sister car is 53.4% front. Stock is 53%, a Fiat 124 Spider is 54%.

In reply to Keith Tanner :

But, but, but the internet says that that big V8 will ruin weight distribution and make it an ill-handling beast meant only for straight lines. Your scales must read wrong because of the altitude.

I once calculated an altitude correction factor for our scales because I thought it would be funny. It's not a big number laugh

The difference is I could go down later today and buy an M2 with an automotive loan.

Are there companies that specialize in stuff like, or does it just take being more liquid? I think that was more the point. There's a big difference between buying a $70k car, and buying that same car with cash.

There are a bunch of ways to get money. We work with Affirm to allow us to finance anything we can put on an invoice, so there's a solution baked right in and I could help arrange that if you're seriously interested. If you've got any other equity, that can usually be used as basis for a loan - such as a line of credit or a home refi. You might even get better rates.

I'm not a banking expert, though. I don't ask my bank questions about chassis setup, and hopefully they don't expect me to provide detailed financial recommendations laugh My point is that if you want it to happen and it's something that could legitimately happen (ie, if there was a way for you to finance that M2) then it should be possible to make it happen. If it's not money you should be spending, well, the BMW isn't a good idea either.

That's very interesting, I didn't realize there was a way to finance stuff like that for people that have the monthly income, but may not necessarily have the liquid cash for it.

I financed part of betty's purchase at a really good interest rate. It's possible. The banks just want some skin in the game.

And for any of the GRM's that want to drive one....Come on over. Just bring a 6 pack and your gas card. Betty is a little thirsty when ran.
