4 year old(2013) hurricane 8.5x28. has full 4' flap on rear door for very low cars and already has some e track welded to the frame down the sides in front of the inner fenders. i ordered much more e-track and lots of straps and accessories to get it laid out how i want. it will not fit into my driveway as of yet so i had to park it at my parents' place. planning to take out a couple trees, knock down a hill and make the apron of my driveway about 10' wider in the spring.

the PO is the owner of Demon Speed motorsports who makes 911 parts and is a PCA instructor. nice guy, cool porsche to look at, and he makes some nice stuff. he is familiar with GRM which made telling him I build challenge cars way easier than when talking to normies. he sold this trailer because he got a bigger gooseneck one. 28' is HUUUUUGE inside. Tows great, i took it on the very long way home to get used to it and there really was no getting used to. truck was like LOL whatever, i was kinda expecting to feel at least something different compared to my daily 12' tool trailer but the cummins really couldn't care less what it's hooked up to. got 2 spares with it, and the trailer has new wheels and tires as of last summer.

Very nice! You will find all kinds of uses for the trailer, like moving hot tubs

Enjoy, Paul

So for the weight distribution hitch setup, who is using one with a 2.5" receiver? PO said he was using the adapter that came with his truck to use a 2" setup. All my WD stuff is 2" but I don't want to introduce that reducer into the equation unless necessary. It's hard to find much for the 2.5" hitch.

Only need to add roof air and a generator and you'll have lots of friends on hot race weekends. Nice score, Pat.

My rental truck RAM 2500 has the 2.5inch and came with a reducer for the 2inch. I just putit in and used my 2inch WD setup. Seemed to work fine only issue I had is my WD setup would still need to lower the hitchball to be right

Don't do a weight distribution hitch. Get some airbags for the truck instead. Far more stable in my experience and it doesn't limit your turning circle.

Nice setup, it's almost exactly what we have at FM for towing two Miatas. My truck's a 2500 instead of a 3500, but other than the front axle and the rear spring rates there's not much difference. It's a happy rig, I've never had it surprise me even when we had crosswinds strong enough to tip over semis.

Make sure your ball mount is rated for the weight of the trailer. Common Class III ball mounts top out at about 7500 lbs, you need a Class IV rated for 10k.

If you're not un-weighting the front axle of the truck, then I'll agree, no need for WD unless you want the sway control from a combo setup, just stiffen up the rear suspension. If the front end of the truck is un-weighting noticeably, then you want WD to keep it from lifting weight off the front axle.

Never had any indication the front of my truck was unweighting with one or two cars in the trailer. Maybe if you had a ridiculous tongue weight, but that's just poor trailer loading. No sway either - I can tell you it pulls much straighter than a new Tundra with a 20' trailer and a WD hitch. Owner of that truck was bragging about how the sway control was kicking in and keeping everything straight, I just pulled out and left him because I didn't have any sway and could drive twice his speed in that crosswind Again, that's basically the setup that Patrick just bought.

I have pulled our trailer with a WD setup before I got the airbags. I didn't enjoy it much.

Different trucks react differently as far as needing WD. The larger the distance from hitch ball to rear axle relative to the wheelbase, the more likely to need WD. So a reg cab long bed is more likely to need it than a crew cab short bed.

Stability also depends a lot on the trailer and loading. Not just tongue weight, but the big one is the amount of weight behind the trailer axles. The more weight there is back there, the more momentum any tiny bit of sway will have. Ideally, if you could manage the tongue weight, you'd have the axles pushed way back on the trailer like a lot of goosenecks do.

Patrick looks to have the same crew cab short bed Cummins that I do - the Tundra was a similar configuration. But I can see what you mean.

I pay a lot of attention to trailer loading. Comes from working with airplanes, I think That 20' has never been as happy a trailer as our 28' is.

I only ran it on my rental because its a combo anti sway and already mounted to the trailer

Hmm.

I gather I don't need the WD setup with one car, it has the potential like Keith to fit 2 small cars, like my Datsun and something else.

My current ball mount that i use for my open trailer and my work trailer has too much drop so i need to get a not so deep one. That is a forged 2.5" 7.5 drop rated at 14k. I think with the new trailer it's more needing a 3.5" drop to be level. The rear of the truck came down maybe 1.5" at the hitch when hooked up. It's about as beefy a pickup truck as one can buy, I did that on purpose knowing a real trailer was on the horizon
