I asked before, but I am getting desperate.  My left front is bald, which is usually good, but its too bald, and heat cycled out.  I'm running a Cooper CS3 on the right rear, which is adequate only for the rear, and I'm wearing out my last new tire on the rf.  There are no class legal tires that will run within three tenths of a KH16, and I wanna win.  Check your local Kumho dealers for old stock.  Look at your parts cars parked out behind the shed.  Check stuff at the auto wreckers.  I will dedicate my win to whoever finds me some, and will mail you an autographed winners circle victory flag!

That is me at the back, in the Neon, just after the reverse grid start.  I have to pass all those Hondas and stuff, in a damn Neon, so I need all the help I can get.

Probably has to be that size right? These would be comparatively giant.

Close, but no cigar - there's a set of 2 185/65-14s on eBay

There are a few of those left locally.  I'm going to try two and see what happens.

That will be mine.  Thanks.  Luckily, it is as far away from me as you can get while still being in North America...Depending on the shipper, I may have to get it forwarded by someone.

Call T&T Tire is Kelso, WA. Ask for Seth. Tell him Michael sent you. He might be able to come up with some old stock. Explain what you're racing.

To Streetwiseguy: If we happen to be in a junkyard, did any cars came with the tire you want as original equipment, or was it always aftermarket?

In reply to Streetwiseguy :

Nope. 200tw. Our rules are stock wheel size and DOT tires.  Good luck on the hunt.

How much time do you have and how badly do you want them? I could check local shops and see what they have, but you should expect shipping to take at least a week and cost at least $50, and the retail price of the tire would be at least 2x what you might expect in the US.

Nothing built in the last decade or two, I think.  NX2000, B13 SER and suchlike might have used them as OE size, but most everything through the 90's and beyond (until 14's just went away) was a 185/65 14.

No Canadian shipping. Anybody in North Dakota want to forward a tire?

Checking some places around Toronto for you, some of which have this new-fangled Internet thing and some that are more at the level of Crazy Bob's Used Tire Barn.

Did I miss what was wrong with the Azenis RT615k or Dunlop Star Spec? Both will be far faster than a kh16...

Edit: 380 tw minimum? Falken Ziex 912 is a solid choice as well if you can find them.

If you really cant find the Kumhos, I can vouch for the federal 595 in that size and TW. We ran them on out lemons car and they were surprisingly good.

Federal is an option.  They don't seem to handle heat quite as well as the Kumho, but I will try them.

Treadwear is just a number the manufacturer throws on there. Get a good durometer and physically test the best performance tires you can find that are marked 400 tw if that is your rule, and pick the ones that have the best durometer reading. Then take them to your local retreader (bandag here in BC) and get them to grind most of the tread off. Instant class legal race tire. It would cost me a case of beer and about 20 minutes for four when I ran a hornet.

I shave my own tires, and my need for KH16s is based off a decade of testing combined with the discontinuation of the size by most manufacturers.

I have 13 different tires shaved and tested and rejected.  There are not many more out there.
