I had never even thought of the Lexus SC. I've never driven one... coming in at 3500 lbs, they respond well on a track?

With proper suspension, sure. They're a little heavier than i'd like, for sure. But if you're eventually prepping it into a track car, you can lose a LOT of weight in them. Keep in mind it's a luxo-barge that happens to share a chassis with the MKiv Supra. It's got a great drivetrain, you can find them with a 5-speed manual, and it's got the 2jzge. Which, even n/a, is a great motor.

Overall, i think it's a cooler choice than the is300, but for a dual purpose car, the is300 would be a better choice.

If i were in your shoes? I'd track down a manual SC300, or try my hand at converting an SC400 to manual, just to get that amazing 4.0 litre quad cam V8.

That's a porky car. Are you going to make this a dedicated stripped out track car or a street car you hoon around the track in?

If it's the first you can probably strip out some considerable weight. The suspension may still be too soft as it's a luxo car, not a car Lexus built to corner fast. Think more of a high powered touring GT.

If it's the second then that car will remain heavy and eat up pads/tires all while being a wallowy pig until you put super stiff springs, sways, and struts under it. Then you've compromised it's street purpose.

People have tracked cars less suited to going fast in left and right turns. I guess it all depends on the amount of money you want to spend and your ultimate goal.

Given that my daily driver is heavy with a lot of power, I think it'll be a nice novelty to throw around something more nimble. So I think I'll focus on the lighter cars. But this thread had given me some good things to think about and a couple news cars to consider. thanks all, much appareciated.
