There was an article in Hot Rod Magazine back in the day about the first guy who did this swap, with a reverse rotation 215ci Buick. I thought it was a pretty neat way to go at that time - the V8 fit into the engine compartment so there was no messing around with sticking it in the back seat, and it didn't weigh any more than the original flat six. The only hard part was solving the cooling issue.

That's really neat that it took up a similar footprint but didn't weigh any more than the flat-six.
Corvairs are cool.
Hot Rod has a reprint of that article on their website: https://www.hotrod.com/features/corveight-january-1968-982-772-64-1/ Turns out my memory was slightly faulty, in that case the Oldsmobile version of the aluminum V8 was used.
