I just spent $400 on a beautiful tig welded FIA rally legal seat mounting solution for the Talon.
I don't know how to feel. It's the perfect setup, BUT $400 DOLLARS? Gah!
What I do know, is that the co-driver's seat is getting bolted to the frikin floor, stumps and rocks be damned. (with proper backing plates on the inside and outside of the unibody, bolting a seat with manufacturer specified FIA mounts is legal). It'll also only cost me about $30 in metal and some welding time
I hear ya...
It's a weird feeling when you start paying a lot of money for stuff that you're reasonably sure you could replicate 98% of the performance for 10% of the cost.
I've fought this the entire Escort build. Harsh difference between that and the MX6.

Do you have the correct, manufacturer specified side mounts that you are then bolting to the floor? I'm struggling a bit with this myself in my E46 M3 build - I can get non-mfgr side mounts for about 1/2 the cost of the manufacturer (Racetech) mounts, but then the seat loses it's FIA crash rating. Not that I need FIA crash rating for HPDE but if I slide down the slope, drink the kool-aid and make this a full wheel-to-wheel race car build someday I'd feel better having the "correct" mounts - and have to spend the money again...
The VAC side mounts work great. If you're worried about them, I'd happily take them off your hands...

Yep, Sparco aluminum mounts at $150 for one seat.
So, in case anyone is following along, I'll have spent $800 to MOUNT my $2000 worth of seats
Racing is expensive herp derp
Safety items for me while racing are the only thing I refuse to bat an eye at. I don't care how much it is, if I lose a limb or too many brain cells in a wreck then I won't be racing anymore anyways. I wouldn't lose any sleep over the seats at all.
Its the thing your body touches the most in a car, save steering wheel. If you are happy, don't look back.

They will be used for the passenger seat but I still need side mounts for the driver seat.
