Looking through challenge photos, I realized how many turbo cars there were. Also, the big Turkey Rod Run swap meet is coming up. So, that begs the question:
How do I haz turbo E30?
I couldn't find anything about it online, so I figured you guys would know how to. No clue if it will ever happen, but I want to know how to do it anyway.
anything is possible.
I just finished watching a streetfire video of a twin turbo viper engined Jeep Wrangler...anything is possible.
Eventually, you should learn to weld. That, a bandsaw, and some stainless pipe- that solves the really hard part. Then there's the pretty hard part, the hard part, and the fairly hard part.
Turbo-intercooler-intake, use MS to make it run. Pretty easy.

Learned to weld in 4th grade.
I'm guessing bigger injectors, too?
Where do you put a turbo in one of these? (Paging DirtE30)
Oh, this would put me in street mod, too, right?

TIG? MIG is too sloppy for this, IMHO.
Turbo goes near exhaust? Oh, you may need 2. Or it would run better with 2. Should be plenty of space on an I engine like that.
Larger injectors, yes. Really, need to match the amount of boost you want to run to the injector upsize.
If you ask me, the best way to plan it out is to volunteer to do the article about the DirtE30 car. I'm sure they will tell you everything you need to know.
You get to learn a TON of stuff if you do this by yourself. Wiring, controls, fabrication, machining, etc etc etc. I'm sure you know most of it, but doing it all on one project?

Don't forget to read "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell. A good, technical primer on forced induction.
If you have the budget to buy a bolt on kit: http://www.turbochargingdynamics.com/ They sell really nice stuff, all scienced out.
No budget, that would double what I have into the car. I'll pick up the book next time I see it.
