Doing coolant system work. Want to replace all the o rings. On a lot of them bmw only includes them with the hose. Any ideas?

Why not replace the hoses? Those plastic ends are affected by age and heat, just like all the other plastic in the system. When I do a cooling system on a modern BMW, I just do it all at once; anything you don't replace is a potential failure point.

Those hoses are a small fortune and appear to be fine. The o rings aren't that bad but I hate to reuse o rings unless I know their history. And even then I usually do it.

We have o ring measuring cones at work. Stop at your local hydraulic hose shop or Pirtek.

Just replaced all the hoses in my e61. The bmw fanboi in me says don't skimp on any cooling system bits - replace the hoses (I had an oil filter housing gasket leak - the oil from the leak got to the hoses). Looked ok, but the plastic disintegrated pulling hoses. Wasn't cheap - about $500 in hoses, but I won't have to think about it for the next 80-100k miles.

Hydraulic shop! Every O ring under the sun for 50 cents each. Just picked up some that were thicker than stock that no one said existed. On the shelf. Good place to make some friends. The shop I go to has rebuilt steering racks, pumps, and built custom driveshafts for me. May be the best place I have ever done business with in all of my car fixing days.
