Hey guys, I just came across one weird problem with my OBD2 scan tool.

So I was testing the car for errors cause I've been struggling with drive by wire problem for months now, as soon as I was done I disconnected the scan tool from the car and it stayed on and functions!

How is it working unplugged? Did it maybe get a charge from my car's battery?

Thanks

Mine doesn't, it doesnt even have an on and off. The only way it switches on is if you hook it to an obd2 port or to the computer via USB. As soon as you unplug it's suppose to switch off (like it normally does) but this time it stayed on for some reason.

The good ones power and charge from OBD.

Yeah a lot of the units with screens can run from a battery that charges when plugged in via OBD2.

Oh so that explains it, mine is one with a touch screen.
