Finally got the noise(s) diagnosed. Front pinion seal was totally cracked in a few places and the passenger side bearing was pretty much shot. At least the extended warranty will cover the majority of that. Apparently the pinion seal job runs close to $800, per the dealer, which seems somewhat ridiculous.

Anyway, at least Gladys the Jeep is back on her feet soon and hopefully the next step is to throw some new tires on her.

That 800 is replacing the seals and all bearings. I don't think it's that far out of line, depending on the parts they are replacing.

$800 sounds about right to have a dealer overhaul a diff. That takes several hours, then figure in Chry$sler parts prices.

Well than now I don't feel so bad, and much better having that extended warranty that has more than paid for itself at this point. Thanks guys.

thank the baby jesus for that warranty! When I had my driver side rear axle seal replaced by 4WheelParts in Denver, they found the rear pinion seal leaking as well and replaced that. I think it was close to something like $300 total(seals, amsoil fluids, labor)+an amsoil engine oil change. Seemed to hate the engine oil change though, so I went back to dino stuff+a 1/4 bottle of lucas unicorn blood every oil change and it loved it. The amsoil definitely cleaned out a bunch of E36 M3 though.
