Quick Q for the gurus. My LT1 has an adapter between the oil filter and block, with (from memory) 2 plugged ports.

Q: is this the right adapter? Is it meant for use only if an oil cooler is in place?

It does NOT look like the one in this thread.

That basically is the oil cooler. Coolant goes from the water pump into one port, cools the oil passing through it, then goes out the other port into the radiator.

You can remove the adpater/oil cooler thing entirely if you want. If the lines are plugged up then its not doing anything anyways. I think you may need to find some shorter bolts once you remove it but its been a long time since I looked at one.
