My wife is on the Solo committee for the local SCCA region. Through her work she met a man and they ended up talking about autocross. One of the topics that came up was a lack of good sites in our area. He happened to own Charleston Helicopters and would be glad to take her up for a couple of hours looking for sites. She got to spend this morning tooling around Charleston in a helicopter. Naturally I had to work today.
In all honesty, I've ridden in one once. I spent the whole time thinking about the $6 clevis that was keeping the thing from falling out of the sky. I just don't trust the machinery. Made it kind of hard to enjoy the view.
you don't trust the machinery? the dude took your wife out on a date and your worried about trusting the machinery?
In reply to plance1:
That, I'm not worried about.

HAHAHA!! I almost wet myself reading that.
Yeah, that dude is hitting on your wife. Next thing he'll say is "I think we should study these auto-X video's in my velour bean-bag chair.
clevis is up to $6 now... geezoi ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/whatthe-18.png)
I know the feeling. I got an offer from a co-worker to take me & my boys up in a vintage tail-dragger. The boys got to ride first but it got too dark for my turn. I changed jobs before I got another chance...., BTW, I talked to your wife the other day (in a "Solo Committee" kinda way) about doing a combined event with our region. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/wink-18.png)

the more cones to play with, the better.
This thread is worthless without pics of the aforementioned wife. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)
Blah, blah, blah, did she find a site?
Dan
THis reminds me of a bad joke...
Q: What is the difference between a blonde and a helicopter?
A: A lot of guys have never been in a helicopter.
This thread is gold. I honestly can't top the comments already made, so I'll just bask in the glory of them.
Oh, I got one!

She found a couple of possibilities and was able to mark them on her GPS.
