I'm a fan of the General Grabber AT2 for a do-all truck tire, but I don't own a Jeep.

I run Kumho Road Venture A/Ts on the Samurai. I have been very happy with them, on and off road.

I put Firestone Destination A/Ts on my work truck. They have outstanding traction on just about any surface. They are a little noisier than the Kumhos at highway speeds. Particularly on new asphalt.

Takeoffs...you're not a Jeep owner if you don't know what I'm talking about...

Duh. Good tip. Thanks.
FYI, I think the JKs are 5x5.5 or 5x5 bolt pattern. Your friend's YJ should be 5x4.5. Ergo, most of the cheap CL takeoff wheels will not fit.

Ooops...Sorry, I don't speak JK.

I've used Bridgestone Dueller Revo2's on my XJ, 4Runner, and now Sequioa. Great road manners, very quiet, long wear, stellar snow traction, and very good off-road as well. I have had some of the other popular choices (Wrangler RSA, BFG A/T KO, etc) and none of them can hold a candle to the Revos in any category except maybe hardcore off-roading.

Also, the Revos look aggressive while still being a good tire on the street.

A Florida jeep needs something street comfortable that can float across sand on occasion. Wranglers are harsh and loud enough without puting abusive tires on them as well.

If you can't find take-offs for cheap take a look at Cooper Discoverer HT. Smooth and quiet.
