I'm trying to sort out different tire classifications, but I can't seem to find a few answers:
Please correct me if I'm wrong on any of this.
"true street tire" - 140 or more treadwear rating, radial tires (generally), used in ST classes
R-Compound - DOT approved radial, < 140 treadwear rating, ex Hoosier A6, used in stock/street prepared classes
bias ply slicks?
cantilevered slicks???
drag slicks - wrinkle wall stuff... not sure of construction
drag radial - radial tire optimized for drag racing - soft sidewall, sticky tread compound?
Anything I'm missing?

Are you asking what bias ply and cantilever slicks are? Both are actually bias ply slicks which are just slicks made in bias ply construction as opposed to radials. Cantilever slicks have a much wider tread surface than the rim they are supposed to be mounted on. They are usually used in classes where a max rim widths spec'd but tires are open.
The rest looks good to me.
Are there radial (true, not just R-comp) slicks?
My understanding was slicks == bias ply

Yes there are plenty of radial slicks
So, are bias ply slicks considered yesterday's news like they are in street tires?

Not necessarily. Radials are less predictable when they reach their grip limit.
