So me and a buddy are going to the Olympus rally here in Washington state April 24th and 25th. this will be the first rally ive ever attended. Looks like we'll be rallying from spectator area to spectator area throughout the day which should be fun. i downloaded the spectator guide and went through it, lots of common sense, like stay out of the way of the cars, stick to major roads travilin to spectator areas, any tips for rookie spectators? this is gonna be my vacation, and i think its gonna be a great time.
Bring a cooler stocked with food and water. Wear hiking boots. Be prepared to get really dirty, crap in the woods, and have no amenities for 12 hours. Bring extra clothes cause it will rain. Bring camera, batteries, and a very large and empty memory stick. Have the time of your life!

I don't know what the schedule is like for that one, but don't quit spectating once the sun goes down. Rally cars at night are a cool thing. Bring flashlights and warmer clothing than you'll think you need; it gets real cold in the woods when the sun goes down. You'll have a blast.

IMO, the pits are just as much (or more) fun as spectating. The spectating at a rally can be bittersweet because it's cool to see the cars in action, but you only see them for a few seconds and then wait a while for the next car to whiz by. In the pits you get a close up of the carnage, get to see the crews do their thing, check out the cars up close, etc. Also, if you can make it, get to the parc expose before the racing starts so you can check out the cars up close and personal before they get broken.
I'll be there, I'm looking forward to it! I'll be crewing most of the weekend, probably spectating for part of Saturday.

Some Video of ken block runnin his ford.The rally was a blast! i met pastrana and block and mirra at the rally expose then we headed out to the spot in the vid. Ken dropped out shortly after some said motor some said transmission i dunno. pastrana took the event with mirra in third. after watching those guys i had to have some fun in my dd corolla at the beach after the rally that day (had to take it easy, still had 300miles to drive home:)
