stopped in traffic on the way home from work friday night, last in line. grand marquis did not see the long line of traffic in time. no injuries but i'm 90% sure my 94 is toast.

not the end of the world as I was looking to go with something new in about 6 months to accomodate my new downtown city living complete with 20 mile reverse commute and no place to keep a fun old car running.

the mazda2 was pretty much at the top of the short list. anyone know anything about when it might actually be at dealers?

I had heard it was 'round November. But as it is with many things, I'm usually wrong.

Miata/locost time?

This says now. My local dealer has none in stock, though. The similar Fiesta is in showrooms.

man, that guppy smiling face is too much for me, I'd prefer a Fiesta, but that's just me...

i'm right with you styling wise, but the fiesta hatch starts 2k higher. i'm going to test them both of course.

Gotta ask, when will you know about the '94?

update: miata is toast. they gave me a good price for it though (3800) after a little haggling over my upgraded suspension. it'll probably be at a salvage auction in the NoVa area any day now, if not allready. look for the black 94 with a dented driver door, black top and a rear end that looks like it was opened with a giant can opener. if you find it, you'll win a 1.8 w/140k and a coolant issue that i hadn't be able to track down yet but fresh timing belt/wp. most importantly, koni adjustables at all corners w/ alum threaded coilover perches and 7"/350 front, 7"/250 rear and a torsen rear.

i also picked up my 2010 Koup EX in blue last night

I actually really like the styling atleast of the Koup! How is it?

I wish they made a hatch version. Or should it me Hytch?

hah! actually, they ARE coming out with a hatch forte this fall sometime. Was going to be on my shopping list early next year but of course, couldn't wait!

the koup is great so far. lots of standard features that are fun for a guy who's never had a car newer than 12 years old. it's not a sports car but it's zippy and eager. a few friends are very much considering picking one up as well. they seem like the perfect DD for an under 30 person who wants something on the sportier end of the appliancemobile spectrum at a great value.

plus, that blue is rockin.

I saw a Mazda2 at the dealer on Saturday. They had just sold an ugly green one and had a black 4 door hatch in the show room. Decent looking car. Reminded me a lot of the cars I typically see roaming around Europe whenever I visit.

The steering wheel was cheap feeling but other than that the car was pretty nice looking. Plenty of room in the front seats. Rears are OK for girls or people with shorter legs. Nice car for the money.

The smiling guppy face is not as over the top on the Mazda2. It looks OK.

Hytch sounds like a venerial disease ... I like it.

BTW, this is the Hyundai hatch right now. I guess they call it the Elantra Touring in the US. Nice cars, and they have decent potential judging by how many people make them into hot rods here in Korea.

Uh, "non standard" mirror decoration on this one.

Talk to L8Apex. He seems to like his and it looks fairly quick through the cones:

Dealer by me has several in the lot, too bad I am out of a job right now or I would consider one as my daily driver to keep the Titan parked most of the time. Oh, wait, the titan is parked most of the time these days.

I saw one on the lot the other day, but was in the wrong lane, with too much traffic to pop in and take a test drive. I still need to know if I FIT into one. Too many small cars these days have no headroom. Thankfully the bike has headroom limited only by atmosphere, and (occasionally) overflying airplanes. Low hanging powerlines could potentially be problematic.

The interior was quite roomy and had a high roof line. I'm 5'10 and it felt spacious to me. More room compared to my RX7 and felt like I had more head room than my Mini.

My Fiesta has been on order for 9 wks and counting. Dealer has delivered one, has one for sale. Interesting, I found the physical dimensions, including weight to be almost identiacal to my 2000 ZX2SR.
