He should be fine to run them without adapters, there are plenty of f body guys out there running BMW wheels and others in 5x120. Come to think of it, all the VW guys running C4 sawblades are doing the same, but in reverse. .030" really isn't that much difference, probably more clearance than that in the bolt holes.

Pretty much the only reason I don't like steelies, expecially wide ones. They may look alright but damn most are heavier than 24s or whatever the kids on the other side of the railroad tracks are running these days
Here is one for the hive. What manor of paint/ dress up would help the cheap tire rack steel wheels.
I run these for my snows on both cars.

Diamond Racing's SC Series looks similar to the Soft 8 Style and can come in any bolt pattern you want.

search for "banded steel wheels"
Only in 13's or 15's, though at 18lbs for a 15x8 wheel that are usually pretty cheap. I may be game. Though I would love to see them in a larger diameter.
Dress ups for steelies? Thin snap in chrome trim ring and spider caps. Think steel wheels weigh a lot now? But they look nice.

These 4x114.3mm 13x10's I bought for my AE86-based Locost work very fine!
I did stock steelies on my lowrider Datsun bulletside:
And of course steelies with small caps and trim rings on my Falcon:

And incase you want to do some more reading, or drooling about superbirds or daytonas, here is the link to the page where I got the pic. Oh yea, you could have had one of these beasts for $3395.
