What do you guys think of this? I think it plugs into a video camera which would be mounted somewhere in the car. What I want to do is mount it outside the car for time trials, HPDEs, and auto-x events. I was thinking about putting it behind the front wheel or maybe under the chassis looking up at the suspension.
Any input is appreciated. Also, if you guys have better solutions (possibly for sale), I'd like to see what else is out there.

I'd suggest the ubiquitous GoPro Motorsports Hero Wide 5. Comes with a sh1tload of mounts and a waterproof enclosure good to 100' (ok; who's the U-boat captain?...) records 1'52" on a 2 gig SD card, and has a 170 degree field of view.
They're about $169 on Amazon. I made a mount for my e36 out of 18" of 1" square AL tube, 2 small stainless U-bolts, and a 4x6" rectangle of 16 gauge AL sheet w/ the corners radiused and one surface polished for the suction cup to stick. Works great, zero hassle.

This is one I've seen that I was interested in. https://www.actionvideocams.com/Helmet_Cam_DVR.html
I've been using my digital camera with a cone-cam mount and its working well so far.
