Paint the Eurovan like the Jetta?
If you live somewhere where the sun shines, you'd regret it. Vans are massive greenhouses and usually have only-adequate a/c to begin with. Painting one a non-reflective black is asking to hate it for the first 15 minutes of every drive.
Way back in the day, when I was crewing in IMSA, I came across a Rabbit that just impressed the hell out of me. 13" racing slicks, twin Webers, super clean all around. GT class. No idea if it was competitive, but that sucker is still stuck in my mind. SWEET looking ride.
Not to relevant to your question, but are you sure those BBS's can stand the Eurovan's weight. I have one and it is a very heavy vehicle, close to 4300 lbs. When braking or turning those front wheels are really loaded. It has two piece lug bolts BTW. This van uses XL load rated tires at a high pressure and they are hard to find in the right sizes.

Do it. Even thought not as old or as rare, I've been gutwrenched for the last month over the mint E30 I sold back in APril.
Well, i went and looked at it. It had some runs in the paint, but he says its easily fixable. The rear brake lines needed to be flared out and new fittings pressed on for the rear discs to be functionable. The headlights were not wired up, but it would be real simple to wire em up. The engine bay has been shaved, so it looks clean. The interior is questionable. He has a set of beetle seats in it, the rear seat comes with, but is in terrible shape and from what i understand, is specific to that model year car.
He started off saying he wants to trade for my hooptie and i am fine with that. Then, it started going into he wanted my Jetta and i would need to tow the Rabbit out. I am thinking no, i want a running car for a running car. If he could get the lines hooked up, i will easily trade for it. Until i get the van going, this would end up being a DD for the next month or so...
I say pass on the Rabbit. They are cool, but you have a running, driving car now, and I would keep it. I bet that thing's a real turd underneath that fresh coat of runny paint.
My mom had a little diesel rabbit, cool little cars. I looked at one and rust seems to be an issue. I wouldn't consider one unless it was absolutely clean. A rusty rabbit for a "custom" jetta isn't a good trade. Considering the car needs all that work I don't blame the guy for wanting to trade up. Good luck.
