Looks like I have to cast the net a little wider while searching for winter wheels up here. Occasionally there is something interesting in Oregon, but my question is, if I buy a vehicle in OR, does the PO have to surrender the plates and do I have to get a trip/movement permit, or do the plates stay on the vehicle like they do in California?

Here in NV you have to get a movement permit if you buy a car privately and I'd rather not purchase a vehicle out of state if I have to go to the DMV there just to get the permit, especially if they have no open DMVs on the weekend...

No plate surrendering here in oregon. We just have to send in a form to the DMV within 30 days stating that the car is sold.

Cool, so the purchaser can just drive off (assuming they have insurance)?

Heck, the buyer doesn't have to verify that the owner has insurance. So, if you buy the car from a private party with valid plates, then you can drive off with it once the bill of sale is signed.
