Had to pick up something cheap.

'88 MX6. Low end model, 18v normally aspirated, with a manual transmission.. Really damned rough.

WTF happended to the used car market? Everything under 1500 in SA was trash and/or very misrepresented by the sellers.

This was the worse experience ever trying to find a cheap used car. I wasn't even only looking for interesting stuff.

$500 scrap value of a car, that's what happened.

That's why I laugh at 24 Hours of Lemons... it's full of cars that are easily worth $2000+, but they claim $500 value.

Doh. Not used to this 3v 4 cyl, the only 3v I've had is the Biturbo - which is 18v.

What's the best MX6 resource? I've got some small issues to sort.

Ben is.....he could probably find you any part your heart could desire. He's really big into these things.

I gotta find a FSM/wiring diagram. The coolant temp gauge doesn't work (it moves but only just past all the way cold), fuel gauge is very intermittent, speedo doesn't work at all, and the defrost button doesn't work. Does it have a fan for the rear defrost? I see some vents back there.

Mx6.com is probably the best surviving resource. Get used to searching, though... most of the best information is buried a couple years back.

The coolant temp guage is actually probably working... there's quite a few of these cars that run dead cold for some reason. I haven't been able to find out what causes it, or if there's a pattern in which cars do it. It DOES seem to be much more common in the 88-89s than in the 90-92s.

The speedo is mechanical, just check that both parts of the cables are connected well, as well as plugged into the cluster.

Fuel gauge is probably a ground somewhere. Also a common issue on 88-89s, but not 90-92s.

No fan for rear defrost... where are the vents you're seeing?

FSMs are housed in here, as well as at MX6.com i believe.

Please note that for wiring in particular, the 90-92 FSM will be of no use to you.
