Out with the old and in with the new.....

After spending another weekend replacing parts on my Miata that should have taken a few hours, I've finally given up on it. Rust issues have finally gotten to me and I replaced it.

So out with the Miata and in it's place in a new to me '06 Solstice with 5000 miles on it. It was at a local dealer and after ignoring it long enough I picked it up last Friday. Got a good price on it too as there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of interest in a 2 seat RWD convertible in WI in the fall.

Now I just need to save up some cash for that supercharger......

Seriously, how does it compare to the Miata?

I need to get some GRM stickers for the Solstice.

As far as comparing them it wouldn't be fair as the Miata has 142,000 miles and is lowered and has poly bushings, needless to say the ride is a bit firm. Kinda a bit like a drunk college girl - fast & hard but leaves you all cramped up after the ride is over.

The Solstice on the other hand is like a fat chick - slower & softer, but tries real hard to prove it can hang.

I also test drove an '06 NC. The fit and finish of the interior is a little better and the handling seemed a little more responsive but to me it just doesn't have the style of the Solstice. It was a toss up as to which was the better car. Style won this time.

The wife thinks I'm crazy for wanting to autocross it in 2 weeks before I even make a payment on it....

Nothing as of yet, it's just sitting in the garage right now getting jealous as the Solstice is getting all the attention.

I'll probably remove the stickers and paint the hood and CL it. It's not as nice as it looks in the pics, trust me......

are the rockers full of Great Stuff expanding foam and bondo? did you buy it from someone in western MI within the last couple years? it looks a lot like my old car, and the miles are about right. did it have crappy wheels like the ones in the pic below?

other ways to tell if it's my old car:

1. the RF fender was a different blue, from a '94 or '95, so the paint doesn't match where it bolts on underhood.
2. there's a small dent on the top edge of the RF fender, back near the A-pillar and the corner of the hood.
