I guess contrary to popular belief you don't need a Land Cruiser and a roof top tent.

I took one look at that picture and thought "I wonder if someone was actually crazy enough to take a TVR on the Bolivian Death Road?" Sure enough. I'll read the rest over lunch.
Probably massive fun if you’re into that sort of thing. Like I am.
One of my most fun off-road trips was taken in a stock ‘81 Grand Prix. There was a Jeep trail that ended at a fire lookout tower near my grandparents Appalachian home. I’d just finished reading a story in an old Hot Rod magazine that questioned how far down Baja one could go in a completely stock automobile. It was a Sunday afternoon, we were bored, and we decided to see if we could get the old Pontiac up to the fire tower. Well, we paid attention, didn’t get dumb, took turns spotting, and while we didn’t quite make it, we surprised ourselves and quite a few “jeepers”. Looking back on it I think I could have made it if I would have had a hand operated emergency brake that I could modulate. We finally had to stop when the open diff just couldn’t continue the forward progress and I couldn’t press the parking brake and pull the release well enough to put power to the side with traction.
I did that same trip many more times in my CJ5. Not even 1/10 the fun.
