That's the one piece of Stow N Go that could be a benefit.  I simply don't see any need for us to fold the middle row down, we just never do something that would require it.  However, extra storage is a BIG thing.  We have made roughly 10-11 trips to/from Disney World over the past 4 years.  It's an 8 hour drive.  Even with the 2/3rd section of the third row folded, and my oldest son sitting in the 1/3rd section, our Sedona is pretty packed.  Having more space to put some bags would be killer.

Regardless of the vehicle you purchase, more cargo space is always welcome.  My wife could happily fill a 55' box pulled by a Semi.

I really think the SXL is not comparable. There are some SX and loaded EX units closer to your budget. Don't look at the base EX. The EX base is not "Nice" enough for your wife. The EX loaded with all options is.

I have a 2017 GC GT.  I bought it used back in July with 25K miles. It is approaching 41K within a couple of weeks.  it replaced my 2008 GC that was considerably more bare-bones, option-wise.

So far my dislikes are more previous owner (rental) problems I haven't had time to get fixed rather than anything design wise.

The passenger side door doesn't open. No handle or switch opens it.

Some 3rd row trim is missing so parts of the mechanism are exposed when the seat is folded (which is 99.9% of the time for me). I have it covered with foam mats. 

The passenger side stow-n-go seat has a broken latch release, so it's a bitch to put the seat down. But like the 3rd row, the center seats are stowed 99% of the time, so it's not something that bothers me.

The van is still under CPO warranty, so eventually I'll get these issues fixed.

Yes - when asked, the engine will make the van get up and GO.  Makes merging into traffic from a dead stop and less stressful task. 

Remote start is awesome. If the ambient temp is below 40, it automatically turns on the driver's heated seat and the heated steering wheel as well as the rear defroster.  So on a frosty morning, I open the van and the seat and wheel are already nice and toasty. It's awesome. 

Handling is fine for what it is.  The front seats are comfortable on long drives. The stereo is reasonably decent (nav sucks, but they all do once you're used to phone nav).  The brakes are good - better than my '08 - although it does require 17" wheels to clear the front brakes.

I suppose if I have one complaint, the transmission tends to hunt a lot and I was hoping for better fuel mileage. Typically around 20 mpg with an occasional 24 mpg or so.  Still better than my '08 when averaged in the high teens.

Thanks for the write up!  The auto turn on of the heated seat and steering wheel sounds awesome, I know that's something she'd love.  What stinks is we park in the garage, so obviously we can't use it there.  But she parks outside at work.

Our '10 Sedona is pretty quick too if you put the spurs to it.  It's something like 245hp, 4400lbs and also has a 6spd.  I'd imagine the GT is fairly similar, perhaps a tick quicker.

We aren't audiophiles, so as long as the stereo works and sounds decent, it's more than adequate for us. 

Our Sedona gets 16mpg in mixed driving.  The best I've ever gotten with it is 22mpg, and that was an entire tank cruising at 70mph.

But for the 95% of us who aren't Vigo, it works just fine.

From working on the chrysler vans I think i might personally prefer to own the Kia, but if they didn't make a sufficiently fancy one of your generation and the newer ones dont currently hit your value quotient then that sort of knocks it right out. 

I like the Chrysler vans ok, I just pine for the olden days when they weren't so electrically fragile.
